NatCen conducts some of the UK’s most high-profile quantitative social surveys, including the English Housing Survey and Family Resources Survey. We work with a range of clients including government departments and other public bodies to deliver robust data to answer policy questions. Research teams are involved in all aspects of survey delivery including survey design, questionnaire development and testing; fieldwork monitoring and data delivery. Senior Researchers play a critical role in the day-to-day management and delivery of our surveys, leading on the implementation of smaller projects or significant elements of larger ones. They often have responsibility for co-ordinating the work of other research staff and for liaising with colleagues elsewhere in NatCen as well as working closely with collaborators and with funders. They contribute to the development of new business as well as representing the organisation externally.

- Significantly contribute to the overall design, implementation and ongoing management of survey research projects.
- Be the main contact for projects and liaise effectively and professionally with NatCen staff, as well as external clients and collaborators.
- Develop and test quantitative data collection instruments and other relevant survey materials, including interviewer briefings.
- Carry out quantitative analysis to a good standard.
- Write proposals, presentations and reports to a standard appropriate for external audiences.

- A relevant undergraduate degree;
- Experience delivering social research projects and programmes using quantitative or mixed method approaches;
- Excellent understanding of the theory and practice of survey research and good understanding of quantitative research methods;
- Excellent project management and team-working skills, including working to timelines and budgets and managing competing priorities;
- Ability to communicate clearly, in different styles and for different audiences with evidence of excellent writing skills;
