  • Are you able to draw on lived experience of mental health, either your own, as a carer, supporter or friend?
  • Become our Senior Mental Health Peer Support Worker

Our Mental Health Peer Support service provides peer support for people over 50 for early intervention and as a step down from more intensive medical support. The service provides a blended approach of delivery, designed according to the client's individual needs.

A key aspect of Mental Health Peer Support is that staff can use their own lived experience of mental health to empathise and support people in their journey; for example, experience which is personal, professional or of caring for someone with mental health concerns.

As a Senior Mental Health Peer Support Worker, you will lead Age UK Sutton's peer support service delivery, conduct client triage and needs assessments, provided 1-2-1 support to clients and line manage a Peer Support Officer.

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate individual who:

    • Has experience of supporting, including 1-2-1 support, to people living with a mental health condition (this could be in a health and social care role, in the charity sector or a voluntary or personal capacity)
    • Is able to draw on lived experience of mental health
    • Has previous line management or supervisory skills, which could include volunteers, providing guidance and support
    • Is a good relationship builder and effective communicator
    • Training and development opportunities are available to all staff.
