ABOUT UWS3Role summaryAs Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, you will play a key role in drivingforward UWS’ approach to audience engagement and development, maximising theacquisition, development and retention of supporters to increase loyalty, impact andlong‑term value.This is a 12‑month maternity cover contract, and we are ideally looking for someone whocan start in early June 2026 to allow for a smooth and comprehensive handover with theoutgoing postholder.You will hold strategic oversight of UWS’ priority audiences, brand, messaging andchannels, ensuring our communications and marketing are compelling, consistent andaligned with organisational priorities. You will lead the development and delivery ofintegrated marketing and communications plans that support both fundraising goals andthe profile of UWS across agreed audience segments.In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between UWS’ internal programme work and how theorganisation shows up externally. You’ll turn complex programme insights into relatable,motivating content that resonates with supporters, partners, policymakers and the widerglobal community. You will also line-manage a talented and international team of twoMarketing and Communications Managers - one based in the UK and one in Nepal.Key tasks and responsibilities MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING & EXECUTION  Lead and develop the marketing and communications   short and long term plans thatreflect the ambitions of the Fundraising and Programme Teams Coordinate the strategic alignment of the global UWS messaging and campaignswith  In country Communication Teams plans and messaging  to drive consistencyand collective impact ABOUT THE ROLEManage the strategic alignment of the communications plan to reflect the widerfundraising teams audience acquisition and cultivation plans and UWSprogrammatic goals. Advise & collaborate on how to develop these plans Segment and identify audiences to create and deliver a Marketing and Comms planto grow income and our  brand in line with UWS strategic direction. e.g launch  ZEPcampaign, acquisition campaigns    Develop and implement the agreed tactics needed  to engage key  audiences  withcompelling and inspiring content e.g Film development,  email marketing campaigns,website development,  and oversight of donor reports.  Manage Comms budgets, contracting and  agencies when required  Lead the development of an inspiring fundraising marketing proposition and content,working with external agencies where needed Lead and manage the development of the global  UWS website ensuring content isinspiring, up to date and drives action. Lead the development of  UK social media channels and collaborate with the widerUWS Comms Teams to share best practice Oversee a content bank of stories and knowledge that can be used by fundraisers totell the UWS story  ensuring it’s relevant and engaging to our audiences BRAND POSITIONING Continue to develop the brand and its position ensuring it reflects the organisation'snew strategy   Be an advocate and brand guardian - driving change through In countryCommunications Teams Build UWS’ to be a thought leader amongst the education sector - identifyingconferences , speaking opportunities, coordinate prize applications, placearticles/content and respond to news stories Identify and manage brand ambassadors - maximising their contribution to ourmission ABOUT THE ROLELEADERSHIPManage, develop, and support the Marcomms Team in the UK and Nepal    Develop clear KPIs and performance indicators for the team and marcomms programme  Provide direction and leadership, building trusted relationships with colleagues across UWS  Work with the global SLT - to ensure our content/messaging/brand positioning is accurateand compelling and support with thought leadership positioning and planning  Review core communication priorities with Country Directors and support the developmentof In Country Comms plans that align with the organisational strategy and core marketingcampaigns  Work with In country Communications Teams/Officers - to align brand and marketingmessages for core campaigns and messaging.   Co-create and drive forward the delivery of a coherent, joined up marcomms strategy tocreate greater impact through the Global Communications working group. Co-ordinate the Global Marketing & Communications working hub ensuring teams acrossthe globe feed into the wider MarComms strategy. Use this forum to facilitate best practiceacross content collection and sharing critical information across UWS Globally.  Keep up to date on giving and engagement trends across the sector BE AN ENGAGED AND ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE WIDER LEADERSHIP TEAM Ensure all work compliance with fundraising policy, industry best practice, and GDPR Undertake other tasks as required to support and contribute to the fundraising strategy andthose of United World Schools    Play an active role in the team and across the organisation as a whole and foster goodworking relationships and enhance communications with colleagues. Management of social media channels and website Supporter insight gathering to inform marketing and comms plan Experience of managing of senior stakeholders and influencing through others Creative and entrepreneurial in approach with demonstrable experience of creatingengaging marketing and communication campaigns Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to operate effectively across a wide range ofaudiences and stakeholders.  Excellent planning skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent attention to detail.
