About Global Citizen

Global Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty. On our platform, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on these issues, and earn rewards for their actions as part of a global community committed to lasting change. Global Citizens have taken over 42.9 million actions since 2009. Today, these actions, in combination with high-level advocacy work, have led to over $49 billion being distributed to our partners around the world, impacting 1.3 billion lives in the fight to end extreme poverty.

Role Overview

Global Citizen is seeking a Social Media Senior Manager (Senior Manager-level) to lead the strategy, development, and execution of social media across the channels of our CEO. This role sits within the Office of the CEO and works closely with Global Citizen’s Marketing and Communications teams to ensure alignment between the CEO’s voice and the organization’s broader mission, campaigns, and brand.

The Social Media Senior Manager will be responsible for executing a comprehensive social media strategy for the CEO, managing day-to-day content production and publishing, and identifying opportunities to elevate the CEO’s voice across key platforms. This role requires a strong strategic thinker and hands-on content operator who can translate organizational priorities, global moments, and key partnerships into compelling digital storytelling.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting senior executives or C-suite leaders on social media and understands how to balance brand management, executive voice, hands-on content creations, and mission-driven storytelling in a fast-paced global organization.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to translate key moments—campaigns, announcements, global events, partnerships, and milestones—into engaging social content.
  • Maintain a consistent and authentic voice for the CEO while ensuring alignment with Global Citizen’s brand and mission.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive content calendar for the CEO’s social channels, including day-to-day posting, tentpole moments, events, and campaign amplification.
  • Coordinate closely with the CEO’s diary and Office of the CEO team to identify opportunities for real-time content capture during meetings, events, and travel.

Production & Content Creation - 30%

  • Capture and produce social-first content including short-form video, behind-the-scenes moments, and event-based content.
  • Manage external vendors and freelance creators as needed to support high-quality content production.
  • Review and provide feedback for all outsourced content to ensure it aligns with Global Citizen’s and the CEO’s voice and brand.

Technology & Platform Management - 15%

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of social media platforms and their evolving features and algorithms.
  • Utilize digital tools and analytics platforms to optimize performance and workflow.
  • Understand how to implement paid media campaigns for individual verified accounts.
  • Provide technology support related to content capture, publishing, and social media management when required.

Social Media Strategy & Leadership - 15%

  • Execute a comprehensive social media strategy for the CEO’s channels that aligns with Global Citizen’s organizational priorities, campaigns, and global moments.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate the CEO’s voice across key platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, and emerging channels.
  • Continuously monitor trends, industry developments, and partner activity to identify new opportunities for engagement and thought leadership.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Global Citizen Growth Team to ensure the CEO’s digital presence supports broader organizational messaging and strategic priorities.

Analytics & Performance - 10%

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of social media campaigns and content across the CEO’s platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize engagement, audience growth, and impact through data-informed decision making.
  • Develop frameworks to measure and report on the effectiveness of the CEO’s social presence.
