About the role:

As Senior Analyst, you will work as part of LifeArc’s Insights ream to provide scientific due diligence and landscaping expertise to support opportunity selection and strategy development across the organisation. You will do this as both, an individual contributor and through matrix management of Analysts. 

The role will focus on supporting LifeArc’s financial sustainability initiatives, including LifeArc Ventures and antibody development platforms. Within this specialist area, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for maintaining up to date advance technical understanding, sharing this knowledge across LifeArc and ensuring all diligence incorporates this deep knowhow where relevant. 

You will be expected to spend approximately 60-70% of your time working across ventures and antibody development platforms as your specialist area. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Work independently to deliver complex pieces of diligence and landscaping to support decision making in Ventures and across LifeArc’s focus areas. 
  • Present outputs in verbal and/or written forms to senior internal stakeholders to maximise impact. 
  • Work with Principal Analysts to define the scope, priorities and strategy for complex diligence and landscaping projects. 
  • Matrix and/or line manage Insights Analysts in small teams to efficiently deliver diligence and landscaping, ensuring that diligence is high quality and fit for purpose. 
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in other departments (e.g. BD, Science, leadership, IP, clinical etc.) to ensure close collaboration and coordinated input into diligence
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to apply diligence/landscaping within LifeArc and work with the Head of Insights and Principal Analysts to ensure that Insights analysis is used appropriately within the relevant governance forums to ensure that decision making is informed and objective. 
  • Manage and prioritise team resources to enable Insights to effectively deliver impactful diligence and landscaping to the wider organisation in collaboration with the Head of Insights and Principal Analysts. 
  • Proactively recommend and implement improvements to Insights ways of working to ensure the team remains at the cutting edge. 
  • Represent LifeArc credibly with external stakeholders (e.g. syndicating investors, industry partners and collaborating scientists). 



Essential experience required: 

  • Experience in performing scientific due diligence, using state of the art information resources. 
  • Specific, in-depth technical expertise in more than one area relevant to the role (e.g. disease biology, drug discovery, competitive intelligence, scientific investment, commercial analysis etc.).  
  • Expertise and understanding of early-stage life science Venture Capital investing, including key considerations for decision making. 
  • Familiarity with the key stages and processes involved in the development of novel therapeutics and medical devices. 


Desired experience:

  • Some experience of matrix and/or line management, or evidence to support successful coaching/mentoring of junior team members
  • Good general knowledge of emerging innovations in the biosciences sector.
  • Experience of conducting technical and commercial diligence and landscaping using desk-based information resourced and by consulting with key opinion leaders (KOLs), which may have come from a background in biotech, consulting, technology transfer or similar. 
  • Experience of evaluating a range of therapeutic and MedTech opportunities. 
  • Experience with regular interactions with senior internal and external stakeholders and the ability to point to examples where your input has had a direct impact on strategic decision making. 


Essential Education and/or Certifications: 

  • Qualified to PhD level in biological sciences, or a BSc/MSc with substantial additional experience

  • Critical thinking and a highly analytical approach to deliver clear risk assessments. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly and concisely convey complex analysis in an easy to interpret format.  
  • Excellent project management and ability to juggle multiple and conflicting priorities.  
  • Ability to rapidly build respect and rapport with senior stakeholders to influence decision making. 
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while seeking input and support where appropriate.
