Senior HETV Mid-Career Manager

Role purpose:

The Senior High-End TV Mid-Career Manager role will feed into the mid-career strategy supporting the Head of HETV.  They will lead on all aspects of ensuring successful delivery of HETV mid-level career projects related to a range of programmes delivered across the fund annually including Make a Move, Leaders of Tomorrow and professional skills courses.  The role will oversee the end to end customer service experience process of how the fund engages with HETV productions ensuring the High-end TV Production Liaison Managers are responsible for production liaison within their area within the UK.  They will manage the overall budget for all mid-level career HETV programmes. The role will build and maintain strong relationship with HETV industry, particularly Heads of Production, Production Executives and Line Producers as well as Guilds, Associations and BECTU Branches. This role will be instrumental in looking at ways to improve and innovate on current processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the HETV Mid Lever Career Programme portfolio including the Make a Move Programme, Leaders of Tomorrow Programme, grade shortage training placements and Professional Skills course ensuring they run efficiently while continuously improving processes and ways of working.
  • Hold overall responsibility of budget management of all HETV mid-level career programmes.
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of five direct reports, providing coaching, performance oversight and career development support to ensure the programmes are delivered on time and within budget alongside wider associated training programmes.
  • Lead on reviewing production visit feedback and partner with the Head of HETV and Programme Leads to improve our operations, delivery and messaging.
  • Lead on ensuring all mid-level HETV Skills Fund placements are delivered in line with funding requirement.
  • Lead on all mid-level career placements that are delivered as part of the Working groups grade shortage training programmes.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an efficient workflow and tracking for all fund-contributing productions.
  • Work with the Head of HETV to ensure that the annual HETV Research participant list is up to date and reflective of the senior industry that the fund supports who can feedback.
  • Support the Head of HETV in reviewing and refreshing the membership of the industry working groups
  • Attend mid- level career Working Groups where relevant such as Make a Move and Leaders of Tomorrow.
  • Develop and build relationships with Heads of Production, Production Executives, Producers and Line Producers keeping them informed of the HETV Skills Fund Offer and gathering production intelligence to share with Head of HETV and wider team if relevant.
  • Develop and build relationships with Guilds, Associations, BECTU branches and other industry bodies.
  • Lead on the creation and dissemination of Skills Checklists for HETV roles, including sourcing industry associates to complete the work and working with the Vocational skills team
  • Provide regular written and verbal progress reports on relevant programmes to Director of HETV, CEO, HETV Council and Fund Advisory Group and the Board as required
  • Provide oversight and support the contracting of bespoke stand-alone projects and activities that support the Funds wider programmes as and when needed.
  • Work closely with Marcoms to design an effective marketing strategy to better promote mid-level career programmes, and ensure dynamic case studies are compiled
  • Support the delivery of industry networking events for mid-level freelancers across the UK
  • Work locally to build industry and public body networks and positive relationships to ensure ScreenSkills value is understood
  • Attend industry events when required acting as an ambassador for all HETV programmes and ScreenSkills activity
  • Work collaboratively across ScreenSkills wider teams to ensure a joined-up approach to the company skills strategy.

Essential skills and experiences:

  • Strong project management experience, with the ability to deliver projects from planning through to implementation
  • Understanding of HETV production environments, including industry timelines and delivery pressures
  • Experience managing budgets and tracking spend
  • Experience leading or supporting small to medium-sized teams
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and keep projects on track, even when managing multiple workstreams
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
