Senior Family Outreach Worker
Salary: £29,622 - £32,543 pro rata pro rata, plus pension

Fixed term until 31 March 2027
Do you want to support young people and families to resolve conflict? Do you want to work for an organisation that strives to prevent youth homelessness?
If so, our Senior Family Outreach Worker role could be for you!
About the service
Family breakdown is the main cause of youth homelessness in Scotland, which is why Cyrenians endeavours to ensure every young person we work with has a safe home environment and the strong relationships that make this possible.
Using a dual approach of whole-family mediation and practical support, we help families to recognise, repair and rebuild relationships by empowering people to communicate their needs and reached shared understanding.
The people we work with experience varied challenges, including; involvement in the criminal justice system; substance abuse; being in the care-system; and adverse childhood experiences.
About the role
You will offer practical, person-centred support to families while also supporting and guiding colleagues within the team.
Working in collaboration with Mediators, you will support families to engage with the mediation process and other relevant interventions, helping to reduce the risk of homelessness or further involvement in the criminal justice system.
Alongside managing a caseload, you will contribute to the development of the service by supporting reflective practice, maintaining oversight of quality standards, and working closely with the Service Manager to ensure effective delivery.
In this rewarding role you will help build positive relationships, promote better communication, and reduce the potential for future conflict and its consequences.
About you
We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication skills and experience of supporting children, young people and/or families.
You will have a proven track record of guiding or supervising others and be confident supporting colleagues in their practice.
You should also be:
- Well organised, flexible and creative in your approach
- Committed to maintaining high standards of practice
- Able to demonstrate our values of compassion, respect, integrity, and innovation in the work that you do
How we will support you
You’ll be part of a small team, led by a supportive manager. There will be great opportunities for you to learn and develop, while sharing your skills and experiences. You will have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.
About us
At Cyrenians we tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness by taking a Public Health Approach to Homelessness Prevention. We take a values-led and relationships-based approach to delivering all our services.
