We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Family Intervention Practitioner to join our Wakefield Early Behaviour Support Service (WEBSS).

WEBSS delivers a unique, supportive approach to improving the emotional wellbeing of children and young people aged 5–10. We work with families navigating anxiety and low mood linked to autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions—whether diagnosed or not.

Our focus is simple but powerful: building resilience, strengthening confidence, and creating supportive communities where families feel understood, connected, and empowered.

The role:

Location: Hybrid – Kids (Yorkshire), The Active Centre, Castleford WF10 3UA
Salary: £19,903.33
Hours: 28 hours per week, including occasional group sessions (4pm–6pm, up to 2 days per week – flexible working discussed at interview)
Essential: Full driving licence

As a Senior Practitioner, you will:

  • Create a safe, supportive environment for children and young people from neurodivergent families
  • Support parents and carers to build confidence and connect with others facing similar challenges
  • Build strong, professional relationships with partners across health, education, social care, CAMHS and specialist services
  • Deliver a holistic, person-centred approach to family support
  • Contribute to multi-agency meetings and help shape referral pathways and interventions
  • Facilitate workshops (full training provided)
  • Support and mentor colleagues, volunteers, and those with lived experience
  • Manage a varied caseload, including support plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding responsibilities

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working with neurodivergent children, particularly those expressing distress through behaviour
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and case management systems)
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting families
