About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join our Domestic Abuse Services team at Waythrough.
You will be co-located within social care services, offering expert advice, guidance and intervention on complex cases where domestic abuse is a significant concern. The role combines consultation, training, and direct work with individuals using harmful behaviour, helping to reduce risk and improve outcomes for children and families.
What You’ll Do
Provide specialist consultations to professionals to support risk assessment, safety planning and decision-making
Deliver direct brief interventions with people using harmful behaviour, individually and jointly with partner professionals
Undertake home visits and joint appointments to support safe engagement with families
Design and deliver flexible training and reflective practice sessions for professionals across children’s services
Manage a caseload, assess suitability for intervention, and contribute to safe, planned multi-agency responses
Share expertise to support professionals working with resistant or reluctant individuals
Represent the service at professional forums such as MARAC and community events
Contribute to performance monitoring, data collection and service development
To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:
Experience working within a domestic abuse setting or related service
Experience working with individuals and/or families affected by or using domestic abuse
A strong understanding of domestic abuse, child abuse, trauma and safeguarding procedures
Experience delivering direct work with people using harmful behaviour and managing challenging engagement
Confidence working autonomously while collaborating effectively with partner agencies
Excellent communication skills, including producing clear, professional written consultations
The ability to manage workload and administrative responsibilities independently
You will also demonstrate sound professional judgement, particularly around risk management, escalation and advising professionals in complex cases.
