Newton Bridge Academy is an all-needs specialist school catering for over 250 pupils aged 4-19 years with a range of different needs and abilities, and all pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school was legally formed as Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship (GANF) on 1st January 2024 following the merger of Ambergate Sports College and The Grantham Sandon School, two schools that were judged to be ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted prior to the merger. The school’s name was officially changed from GANF to Newton Bridge Academy on 1st September 2025 to reinforce and celebrate our identity as one school. Our two sites are known as ‘Newton East Site’ which is situated towards the east side of Grantham town, and ‘Newton West Site’ which is to the west.

Our school motto is ‘Unique learners. Limitless learning.

We see every member of our school community as a ‘unique learner’ capable of ‘limitless learning’, through the acceptance and celebration of diversity, pupils’ rights and the belief that all children and young people can learn, achieve and fully participate in school and wider community life, whatever their circumstances.

At Newton Bridge Academy, we offer a high-quality pathway-based curriculum that is personalised to ensure our fantastic pupils make the best possible progress. Our staff are a talented, caring, resilient and ambitious team of people who are committed to displaying ‘visible kindness’ at all times and providing the best possible education, care and school experience for every pupil.

Newton Bridge Academy is proud to be part of CIT (Community Inclusive Trust), a Multi Academy Trust comprising of special and mainstream schools across Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.

“Behind every child who believes in themselves is an adult who believed in them first.”

Are you ready to lead with impact?

We are seeking a bold and inspiring senior leader who is passionate about transforming futures for children and young people with additional needs. As our new Senior Deputy Headteacher, you will bring the skills, experience and expertise to lead whole‑school inclusion, belonging and the quality of education within our subject‑led curriculum pathways, whilst also contributing to the wider strategic and operational leadership of the school.

Newton Bridge Academy is a large and growing split‑site specialist school, committed to providing ‘limitless learning’ opportunities for our ‘unique learners’. We currently serve 260 fantastic children and young people with a broad range of needs and abilities. With an expansion project on the horizon, this will grow to approximately 350 pupils. We are proud to be a part of the Community Inclusive Trust and as one of our team, you will have access to high‑quality professional development, coaching and opportunities for continued leadership growth.

Our work at Newton Bridge is guided by three core principles: visible kindness, deliberate botheredness and certainty in adult behaviour. These principles underpin our shared belief that feeling safe, understood and valued is the foundation for all learning. We are committed to enabling our pupils to learn, achieve and thrive in an environment that offers the highest standards of education, care and preparation for life beyond school.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a growing specialist school. The role requires a strong and practical understanding of the complexities of life within a specialist school environment, alongside a deep awareness of the wider SEND landscape.

If you share our commitment to excellence and you are an ambitious, values‑driven leader ready to make a meaningful impact, we warmly encourage you to apply.
