Job Introduction

Playing a defining role in the future of Tate Modern’s international collection displays, you will work in close partnership with the Director, Tate Modern and Head of Curatorial, helping to reimagine how modern and contemporary art is experienced. Bringing fresh, ambitious perspectives through innovative transnational and transhistorical approaches that span the 20th and 21st centuries.

This is a high-impact senior leadership role for an experienced curator with a proven track record of delivering bold, internationally significant exhibitions and collection displays. You will deliver the intellectual and strategic direction, championing imaginative, research-driven displays that resonate with diverse global audiences and reinforce Tate Modern’s reputation for excellence, innovation and scholarship.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work across teams, including Audiences, Collection Care, Learning and International Partnerships to create compelling, inclusive, and deeply engaging visitor experiences. Alongside delivering display strategy, you will contribute to major exhibition programmes, oversee budgets and timelines and cultivate relationships with artists, lenders, and institutions worldwide.

As an inspiring leader, you will guide and mentor a team of curators, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration and inclusivity while supporting professional growth. You will also play a key role in advancing Tate’s research agenda, contributing to publications and bringing ideas to life through talks, tours, and public interpretation.

We are seeking a curator with deep expertise in modern and contemporary art, a passion for global and diverse perspectives and outstanding leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Experience in exhibition-making, collection development, and stakeholder engagement will be essential.

This is a rare opportunity to help redefine how one of the world’s leading art institutions presents its collection shaping meaningful encounters with art for audiences from around the world.
