JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE SENIOR COORDINATOR WORKING PATTERN FULL TIME – 35HRS PER WEEK SALARY £28,000-£30,000 per annum (Depending on skillset and experience) LOCATION EAST LONDON RESPONSIBLE TO SERVICE MANAGER RESPONSIBLE FOR: DAY CARE WORKERS & SERVICE USERS MAIN PURPOSE To coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the Day Care Service, ensuring high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing, safety, and meaningful engagement for adults with learning and physical disabilities. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Service Operations & Leadership • Oversee daily operational activities, ensuring services run smoothly, safely, and in line with modern day care practice and organisational policies. • Supervise, support, and coordinate Project Workers, Support Workers, volunteers, and any staff involved in Day Care delivery. • Work closely with the Service Manager to maintain high standards of service delivery, administration, and quality assurance. • Ensure all facilities, equipment, contracts, and leases are up to date, safe, and compliant with relevant legislation. • Respond effectively to emergencies and ensure continuity of service. Safeguarding & Compliance • Act as the lead for safeguarding vulnerable adults, including coordinating staff training, overseeing investigations, and providing guidance on policy and procedures. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practice relating to Health & Safety, Adult Protection, First Aid, Fire Safety, confidentiality, disability rights, and equality. • Ensure all staff follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection requirements. Client Support & Activity Planning • Plan and coordinate stimulating, meaningful activities that promote social interaction, communication, independence, physical wellbeing, and personal development. • Support service users with personal care, mobility, feeding, toileting, and other needs as outlined in their care plans. • Arrange and oversee community-based activities such as shopping, sports, swimming, training, and outings. • Promote dignity, choice, equality, independence, and fulfilment for all service users. Life Skills & Development • Support service users to develop life skills both within the Day Care setting and in the community. • Encourage service users to explore opportunities for personal growth, confidence building, and self-fulfillment. Monitoring, Reporting & Administration • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including client files, staff files, timesheets, activity logs, and incident reports. • Monitor the key-working system to ensure consistent, high-quality support. • Prepare written and verbal reports for the Service Manager and relevant stakeholders. • Contribute to assessments, reviews, and care package evaluations to monitor progress and outcomes. Staff Development & Supervision • Provide regular 1:1 supervision, mentoring, and guidance to staff to support their professional development. Identify training needs and arrange appropriate training for Day Care staff. • • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and annual appraisals. Partnership Working & Communication • Liaise effectively with families, carers, guardians, professionals, and external agencies. • Attend user meetings, parent/guardian forums, and steering groups to ensure service users’ voices are heard and acted upon. • Build positive, trusting relationships with service users, respecting their individual needs, culture, and preferences. Quality Assurance & Service Improvement • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions. • Research and develop new approaches to enhance the quality and efficiency of Day Care provision. • Ensure all services are delivered in line with organisational values and best practice standards PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Skills & Competencies • Strong understanding of learning and physical disabilities and their impact on young adults and adults. • Excellent communication and networking skills with a wide range of stakeholders. • Ability to plan, organise, and deliver varied Day Care activities. • Strong administrative, record keeping, and ICT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases). • Ability to supervise, motivate, and develop staff teams. • Ability to manage emergencies calmly and effectively. • Ability to analyse information, produce reports, and present to different audiences. • Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, equality, and person-centred practice. • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCES • Experience working with people with learning disabilities. • Experience in community, voluntary, or social care settings. • Experience in staff management, project coordination, budgeting, and service administration. • Knowledge of care planning, risk assessment, and day-to-day implementation. • Understanding of legislation, policies, and best practice in Day Care Services. • Awareness of carers’ needs and how to support them.
