Job Title: SEND Work-placement and travel training Co-ordinator
Reporting to: Destinations Lead
Grade/Salary: 27,000 to 30,000 (depending on experience & qualifications)
Hours: 5 days a week, term time only, plus one week in the six weeks holiday
Contract: Term time only, plus one week in the six weeks holiday
Probationary Period: 6-month probationary period
Location: Main Road Nurseries, Stanwell Moor Road, TW19 6BS (Close to T5 Heathrow)

Background to the Role

Green Corridor is a dynamic UK registered Charity, working to improve the lives of 16-25 year olds with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through our various pathways and functional skills programmes. We run a section 41 Post-16 provision with about 50 learners on roll.

Summary of the Role

Our successful charity runs pathways which focus on employability and skills for every day living to help young people, with SEN and learning disabilities to gain confidence and social support, alongside nationally recognised qualifications.

First and foremost, you must have experience and a passion for working with young people with SEN. Be involved in supporting our learners to access work placements which, in turn, will give them new skills and opportunities. Engaging with learners and their parents/carers to establish their interests and to support them with appropriate work or volunteering placements. or volunteering placements.

This will also include ensuring the learner is more independent by supporting them in travelling training and life skills.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the Role

• Identify, Visit and assess appropriateness of potential work placements

• Source new work experience/volunteering roles in the surrounding areas

• To plan offsite and onsite work experience and placements

• Monitor and evaluate progress of learners whilst on work placements or travel training

• Setting targets for learners whilst on work experience

• Manage records and documentation , such as rotas, spreadsheets risk assessments, and update weekly

Ensure ILPs are updated regularly

• Support Destination Lead with inhouse events and attending career fairs

• Liaise with parents, learners and local organisations in order to arrange appropriate work placements

• To help and assist learners with travel training and document their journey (which will include early starts and late finishing – time back will be given)

• To help learners with road safety

• To cover and assist in classroom activities as may be required

• To go out on Trips with learners

• To take groups of learners on work experience

• To be familiar with and work to all the organisation’s Policies and Procedures in particular the safeguarding and data protection policies

• To work collaboratively with all other staff members

Professional Development

• To participate in 10 hours CPD per year specific to the needs of Green Corridor.

• To keep your own individual Professional Development Plan up to date.

Other duties

The post holder will be required to undertake other appropriate activities related to achieving the organisation’s objectives, as determined by the CEO.

• To contribute to the general life of Green Corridor – participating in staff development, departmental reviews and overall improvement within the Charity.

Hours will be predominantly Monday to Friday 9:00 to 16:30 however the role will require the successful candidate to work flexible hours e.g. travel training – which is likely to be once a week.
