Background

The Business Education Partnership (UK) Ltd, known as BEP Group is a registered charity, established in 1992.

The charity provides a work experience service and alternative education at our registered independent school for pupils in Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.

Currently we employ around 50 part- and full-time staff, across three sites:

  • Romford (Main admin office and Romford school site)
  • Basildon (School site) and
  • Chelmsford (Work Experience team)

The role will be located at our Basildon school site.

Alternative Education (BEP Academy)

BEP Group first started offering Alternative Education in 1999 and, in the years since, over 3,500 young people have been supported.

BEP Academy became an independent school in 2017 and was judged by Ofsted to be ‘Good’ in November 2018 and again in February 2023. The school meets all the Independent School Standards, as prescribed by Ofsted and the DfE.

The school (BEP Academy) has two sites, one in Romford (60 students) and the other in Basildon (30 students). We offer GCSEs, entry level and vocational qualifications for children to attend full-time.

Our vision for our school

We are first and foremost a learning community. Disaffected young people often join us as disengaged, hesitant learners in Year 9, 10 and 11. Over time we provide a nurturing environment to allow them to become fully participating members of our school.

Our firm belief, and our experience, is that given the right conditions all young people are capable of extraordinary things. We therefore strive to give disaffected young people the conditions to turn their lives around. We want to create the opportunity for them to see an alternative and set them on the path to success.

Purpose

You will be supporting the integration of young people aged 13-16 into the learning environment and support them with their education. As part of a growing team, you will be working alongside the School Manager, Inclusion Mentors and a group of GCSE, Functional Skills and Practical Skills Tutors.

Students are referred to our Alternative Provision who are often challenging (academically and/or behaviourally). You will take an active role in helping to equip students with the skills they will require to further their education and/or progress to the world of work.
