Job Title - Self Employed Champing Host – Old Langho, near Blackburn
Duration - Self Employed – March - November
Hours - Part Time - approximately 2–12 hours per week, depending on bookings
Salary - £40 per guest booking (includes setting up and taking down Champing kit)
Location - Old St Leonard’s Church, Old Langho, near Blackburn (BB6 8AW)
As a Champing Host, you’ll play a vital role in delivering Champing, our unique overnight camping experience in historic churches. Every booking helps raise essential funds for the conservation of historic churches across the country.
You’ll be part of a small, friendly team and enjoy flexible part time work that suits those living in Old Langho and the surrounding areas - ideal for anyone looking to earn additional self-employed income.
Overall job purpose
This is a paid, seasonal, self-employed role running from March to early November.
You will be the onsite point of contact during the Champing season (April–October), ensuring the church is prepared, welcoming, and well cared for. Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing the church and setting up Champing equipment. We ask that you set up for bookings by 3pmon the first day of the booking, and take down the equipment promptly, from11amon the last day of the booking, including on weekends.
- Cleaning the church and servicing the separating toilet to a high standard
- Being available during the season, and notifying CCT of non-working days in advance. We will provide at least four days’ advance notice of any upcoming bookings.
- Being on call during stays should issues arise.
- Providing excellent customer service to guests.
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
- Reliable, motivated, and available to start inMarch.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Available and willing to communicate with the Champing team and with guests over email and on the phone.
- Sympathetic to the care and conservation of historic buildings.
- Experienced in cleaning or hospitality (desirable).

All successful applicants must be over 18 years of age will be subject to a basic DBS, two employment references and right to work checks, at the expense of CCT.

Payment will be made on an agreed rate per booking, and no employee benefits (such as holiday pay, sick pay, or pension contributions) are provided. You will be required to invoice for your services and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
