The Weston Global Tree Seed Bank: Unlocked (GTSB) is a major international programme with ambitious targets to help deliver components of the Kew Science Strategy 2021-2025. It represents a significant portfolio of seed conservation and restoration work across a diverse range of partners globally. The GTSB is managed and delivered through the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership team, based in the Millennium Seed Bank at Kew Wakehurst, with links to RBG Kew teams based in London and Madagascar.

As part of programme close-down (the programme is due to end in December 2026), this 50%FTE post will effectively lead on the planning, management and delivery of a Seed Science, Conservation and Restoration conference in November 2026. The conference will promote scientific discoveries and methodological advances with regard to seed conservation and seed-based restoration developed through the Weston programme, linked to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the MSB and the refresh of Kew’s Science Strategy.

Educated to MSc level or equivalent, with experience of previous delivery of scientific conferences or similar large-scale events, the successful candidate will be self-motivated and pro-active with the ability to manage large quantities of data and multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

This role is based at Wakehurst with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary for this position is £39,243 per annum (pro rata) [Band D]
