Are you looking for your next challenge? This is a great opportunity to join Nottingham High School as a Security Officer. This role is at 0.7 FTE . Working hours are 7.00am – 9.00am & 3.30pm – 8.00pm, Monday – Friday (32.5 hrs a week) (Term Time Only). Principal Objectives

Health, safety and hygiene:

  • To maintain the safety and security of all staff, pupils and visitors through the operation of the school physical security and processes.
  • To conform to the School’s Health and Safety policy at all times and to be responsible for health and safety at work both on a personal basis and in regards to others.
  • To complete job specific tasks in line with school Risk Assessments.

Physical security of school site:

You will be the first point of contact for all visitors to the school and will undertake a range of duties in the following areas:

  • Controlling access and egress to the school site
  • Monitoring CCTV
  • Patrolling
  • Escorting visitors and contractors
  • Locking and unlocking of gates

Deliveries:

  • Receive and record school deliveries
  • Distribute deliveries to intended recipient

Duties Relating to Specialist Skills:

  • To report any faulty equipment to management immediately
  • Ensuring that all security equipment is used and stored in accordance with the school’s policy
  • Willingness to learn and develop new techniques within the security department
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the school management

General Duties:

  • Conduct daily security duties
  • Conduct security duties for specific events
  • Conduct school signage in relation to the school bookings
  • Co-ordinate visitor parking
  • Review CCTV and write reports on incidents and breaches
  • Investigate and resolve issues
  • Co-ordinate emergency services
  • Assisting caretaking staff with transportation of deliveries

Responsibilities

Finance:

The incumbent is not a budget holder.

Interaction with others:

Regular contact with immediate colleagues in the Security and Estates Departments, with students, parents, teaching and support staff, sub-contractors and visitors to the school.

Freedom of Action/Authority to Take Decisions:

The Security Lead delegates tasks on a regular basis and is available to refer to with any queries or difficulties, which may arise. The incumbent would be expected to efficiently prioritise and conduct the security details as required by the school.

Environment

Working Conditions:

Working conditions depend upon the nature of the task in hand. External work may be affected by weather conditions.

Physical Effort:

A significant level of physical effort is required and the incumbent should therefore be physically fit and alert.

Minimum Requirements

  • Successful candidate must have relevant security experience.
  • A good standard of education to ensure literacy and numeracy.
  • Expected to undertake in-house training where required.

Specific Experience

Must be able to demonstrate a number of years’ experience in security, stewarding, concierge or similar profession.

Other Attributes

  • Great organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service attitude
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • A flexible attitude to work is essential as the incumbent may be required to work outside their normal working hours, dependent upon the scheduling of sporting events and school events.
