Description

Hours of Work: 8:00am - 2:30pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break (30 hours per week).

Hourly Rate: £13.16 (£14.06 per hour from the 1st of April 2026).

Responsible to:

The Home Bursar through the Domestic Services Manager, and any Supervisor.

Scout duties:

  • Keep the Domestic Services Manager informed of the day-to-day cleaning operation in the areas for which she/he is responsible.

  • Be responsible for their cleanliness and personal appearance & their designated store areas.
  • Maintain standards and procedures for the cleaning of their areas as specified by the Domestic Services Manager and All Supervisors

  • Work within the timings of the agreed Cleaning Schedule for the areas for which she/he is responsible.

  • Ensure compliance with colour coded cleaning equipment and rules for use in the areas for which she/he is responsible.

  • Ensure completion of Deep Cleans, & Conference Set ups, completion of Checklists & supply of all relevant paperwork to be completed in Graduate & Undergraduate rooms.

  • Work within the New College Health and Safety Policy.

  • Ensure that all cleaning materials are used within the appropriate COSHH guidelines

  • Encourage students to co-operate in the safe cleaning of student rooms.
  • Report students to the Domestic Services Manager via Any Supervisor, who persistently make the scout’s job difficult.

  • Be responsible for the reporting of all maintenance defects to the Domestic Services Manager via Any Supervisor as soon as you become aware of the issue.

  • Progress maintenance defects and report work not done to the Domestic Services Manager after 7 days have elapsed.
  • Cover for absent colleagues.
  • Provide cover for absent staff in any area of Main College and off site as instructed by the Domestic Services Manager or By Any Supervisor.

  • Following any period of sickness absence, provide the Domestic Services Manager with Self Certification documents & arrange a return-to-work interview.

  • Request stock levels of all cleaning materials through the Domestic Services Manager via, Any Supervisor.
  • Undertake any duties appropriate to his/her experience and attend all training as advised by the Domestic Services Manager.
  • Accurately sign in/out via Lodge porters on Sage HR.
  • Report Lateness/Absence to the Main College Lodge and Line Manager as soon as you Possibly can.
