We’re looking for a reliable and hard-working Scout (Cleaner and General Assistant) to join our busy Housekeeping team at St Antony’s College. This is a permanent, full-time post working 35 hours per week over any 5 days out of 7. The rate of pay is £13.45 per hour.
About the role
As a Scout, you will carry out a wide range of cleaning and general duties across the College estate. Areas you’ll be working in include student and guest accommodation, offices, libraries, workrooms and public spaces.
Your work will help ensure that College facilities are maintained to a high standard and are safe and pleasant for everyone who uses them.
Key responsibilities
- Keep College grounds clear of litter and leaves
- Remove rubbish and recycle items where appropriate
- Maintain bin areas, ensuring they are tidy and that waste is disposed of correctly
- Clean and maintain building entrances, glass and doors to the required standard
- Assist with moving furniture and delivering cleaning supplies when required
- Support with collecting used linen and delivering clean linen to College houses (for conferences)
- Clean floors and carpets as required
- Provide cover for colleagues within the Housekeeping team during periods of absence
- Maintain assigned areas in a clean, hygienic and safe condition, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, corridors, offices, libraries and teaching spaces
- Use cleaning equipment and materials safely, following COSHH guidance (training provided) and manufacturers’ instructions
- Report any defects, damage or health and safety concerns to the Housekeeping or Maintenance Manager.
