We are looking for an enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team, working across all three Science specialisms, starting asap.

The role will be required to work across all three Science specialisms and support the teachers in the delivery of the curriculum within lessons. They will assist in the maintenance and preparation of the classrooms, apparatus and materials for staff and students, with a view to supporting safe, effective and efficient teaching and learning.

The candidate will have a Science qualification to at least A Level or equivalent, and technician or laboratory experience would be desirable. They will have the technical competence required for preparing and ordering materials as well as maintaining machines and equipment. They will have previous experience working with children, have strong organisational skills and have the ability work as part of a team as well as independently.

The Science department runs smoothly and our students achieve well across Key Stages 3 to 5. Our core purpose is to fully engage all our students and ignite their curiosity and determination so they can achieve their full potential. The Science department has 11 laboratories at the main Tunbridge Wells campus and six further laboratories at the Sevenoaks campus. All are fully equipped for high-quality teaching and learning and one laboratory is specialised for teaching A Level Chemistry. The technician team is an established team of five, working across two sites, supporting 13 teachers up to Key Stage 5. There is also the opportunity to support and develop co-curricular clubs. Following induction, full training and support is given on an ongoing basis.

We are currently  undergoing a period of transformational change benefiting from a multi-million pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a brand new building at our Sevenoaks campus, which opened in September 2021.  Since September 2025  Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys  has become one of the largest boys' grammar schools in the country. Here we all share the same vision: 'To be the best selective boys’ school in West Kent' and our journey towards achieving this continues to be an exciting one.

We can offer you the opportunity to work with highly able young people in a supportive, well-equipped and forward-thinking school.  We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multidisciplinary team, who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education & care.

You will  benefit from a positive working environment, with strong support for professional development and specialist teaching rooms. We aim for high standards and the pursuit of academic excellence, helping every student to reach their full potential through the development of skills, concepts and knowledge, within the framework of a caring community.
