Overview of the role

Organising and delivering programmes that engage schools and young people, encouraging progression to higher education, particularly at Murray Edwards College, ensuring we have a large group of academically able direct applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds so we can ensure a properly diverse student body. Manage and maintain relationships with schools in our link areas of Haringey, Derbyshire and Manchester, and academy trusts, involving extensive travel across the UK.

Coordinating and delivering regular visits to the College by schools and other groups. The postholder will manage the organisation and deployment of work of the College’s Student Ambassadors during planned events and activities. In conjunction with the ASR Manager, the role will include the organisation of Open Days and residential programmes, to either prospective applicants or to widen participation.

Main duties and responsibilities:

School Liaison:

Organise school visits to deliver programmes across the UK

• Lead sessions with students in schools and online

Plan and draft programmes to deliver in our link areas and across the UK

Maintain and develop relationships with schools in our link areas and with academy trusts

Identify and establish potential new links with schools and educational institutions

Attend events such as HE fairs and regional conferences

College events:

Support with the delivery of residential programmes, open days and subject events

Help to coordinate speakers, schedules and logistics of internal events

• Leading the administration of webinars, organising speakers, advertisement, and sharing of information

Track data, such as attendance and inputting this to the HEAT database

• Reviewing feedback, contributing to reports and adapting the programmes based on feedback

Administration and intercollegiate relations:

• Supporting the management of the shared outreach and admissions inboxes

Updating the College website

• Working with the Communications team to promote events on social channels

• Develop intercollegiate relations by attending Community of Practice Meetings

Staying up to date with developments in outreach best practice

• Supporting the administration of the admissions round as required

• Create event materials such as posters, signage, feedback forms

Creation of PowerPoint presentations to support the delivery of programmes
