Job Description School Gardener Hours This post is 5 hours per week on average, all year around. You may be required to adjust your hours seasonally, working more often in the summer months, and less often in the winter. Overtime may be available to meet demands. You will need to be flexible with your start time to allow for working after the end of the school day when children have left the building Salary £12.21 Support and Supervision The will report to the School Business Manager, and will working in close collaboration with the Operations Officer and the Outdoor Learning/ Gardening teacher. Personal Specification The Following Skills are considered essential: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Demonstrable skills in at least one of the following: gardening/ grounds keeping horticulture/ arboriculture/ landscaping. Experience of resourcing and maintaining an annual plan for grounds and gardens Good sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements Capable of carrying out a physical role all year round. Commitment to flexible team working Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, children, people in the community and volunteers Good verbal communication skills Ability to use own initiative, self-motivated, enthusiastic and the ability to meet new challenges. Current driving licence Satisfactory enhanced DBS check, this will be obtained prior to commencement of duties The Following Skills are considered desirable: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Relevant experience of working in educational and non establishments Willingness to develop new techniques/skills and areas of work Ability to work with a team to develop and complete projects First aid qualification or willingness to learn Experience of using IT Clean driving licence Experience working with volunteers The post holder is required to operate within the school policies including the Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies.
