Sanctuary Support Worker – Application

  • Hours:21 hours per week.
  • Salary:£28,171 (pro-rata).
  • Contract:12 Months Fixed Term Contract

Domestic abuse is always unacceptable. We support people affected by it regardless of age, gender, race or sexual orientation, and we act to prevent it.

The Sanctuary Support Team is looking for a compassionate and skilled Sanctuary Support worker
to join their dedicated team. This role is all about providing life-changing one-to-one support for
individuals and families who need ‘sanctuary’ to keep them safe from domestic abuse.

This post is held at Behind Closed Doors, one of the partner organisations involved in the Sanctuary
Support Team. The team is a city-wide consortium led by Leeds Women’s Aid and employed by Leeds Domestic Violence Service partner organisations, dedicated to helping individuals stay safe in their homes.

Other organisations established in the Sanctuary Support Team are Women’s Health Matters, Karma Nirvana, Shantona, PAFRAS, and the Asha Neighbourhood Project. Each has a different specialism, but all work closely together to deliver support and safer housing for individuals and families recovering from domestic abuse.

Our new Sanctuary Support Worker, based at Behind Closed Doors, will be working with victim-survivors of all genders. They will help to ensure our service users receive tailored one-to-one support to rebuild their lives safely.

This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Benefits include:

  • Flexible working policy,
  • Hybrid office/home working,
  • 2-hours well-being time each month (pro-rata),
  • Pension scheme,
  • Employee Assistance Programme,
  • Continued professional development opportunities.

For a full list of responsibilities and a person specification, please see the Job Description above.
