This is an opportunity for an existing colleague to take the next step in their career and play a vital role in helping our staff, volunteers and members recognise concerns, respond confidently and protect the people who rely on us.

We are looking for a Safeguarding Officer to support frontline operational teams and help ensure RBL safeguarding processes and procedures are applied consistently. You will coordinate responses to safeguarding concerns, provide practical advice and help embed a robust culture of safeguarding across RBL.

• Receive safeguarding concerns and coordinate timely, considered responses in partnership with frontline colleagues, managers and other teams.
• Gather relevant information, review case notes and complete robust risk assessments to advise on appropriate next steps.
• Make referrals to statutory agencies, liaise with external partners and challenge decisions where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records, manage incidents in line with agreed processes and contribute to case reviews, quality assurance and organisational learning.

You will build strong relationships with colleagues across RBL and with external agencies including local authorities, the NHS and the police. As an internal subject matter expert, you will provide clear advice and guidance, share good practice and help colleagues develop their confidence in recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns.

You will bring demonstrable experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk, including experience of completing statutory referrals and handling highly sensitive information confidentially. You will also have a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures, excellent judgement and the ability to assess complex situations with empathy, sensitivity and pragmatism.

You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there, with occasional travel (incl. for monthly team meetings).
