Christ’s Hospital is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Rugby Union coach to join its thriving sports programme. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and ready to meet the demands of working within a unique co-educational boarding school committed to providing a first-class education for children from all backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rugby, with a recognised coaching qualification (such as an England Rugby Coaching Award) being desirable, along with experience of working with young people.

Rugby is the main sport for boys from U14 to U18 during the Michaelmas Term, and for U12 and U13 in the Lent Term. A Rugby 7s programme also runs in the Lent Term for multiple age groups, including girls.

Our programme is structured to support progressive development throughout a pupil’s time at the school, with increasing emphasis on tactical understanding while continuing to prioritise individual skill development.

The Rugby Coach will work closely with the Director of Rugby to deliver high-quality coaching and will be responsible for co-coaching a team from U14 level upwards. The role offers up to 16 hours per week across five days, including Saturdays, during term time only for the 13-week Michaelmas Term (7 September – 12 December). There is also the opportunity for additional coaching commitments of up to four days per week during the Lent Term.

We welcome applications from all sectors of the community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake. We consider the most important factor to be the right skills, abilities and attitude for the job which will ultimately improve the well-being and education of the pupils.  The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
