Join Our Team as a Retail Assistant!

Are you passionate about the circular economy, charity retail, and making a positive impact on the community? We have exciting opportunities for you to shine as a Retail Assistant at our brand new Wantage store.

  • Current store operating days are Monday – Saturday 9:30 – 5:00. The shop also takes part in occasional weekend events (including Sunday).
  • We have three roles available
    • 7.5hours per week. These hours are to be worked across 1 day onSaturday(7.5hrs per day excl 30 min break)
    • 22.5hours per week. These hours are to be worked across3 days(7.5hrs per day excl 30 min break)
    • 37.5hours per week. These hours are to be worked across5 days(7.5hrs per day excl 30 min break)
  • To provide flexibility in the rota, availability is required on five/six days, including weekends.

What you'll do
  • Shop Operations:Accept donations from supporters, take on till and transaction procedures, support with visual presentation and displays on the shop floor
  • Customer Service:Deliver excellent customer service and respond professionally to enquiries
  • Teamwork:Work effectively within a team of staff and volunteers
  • Community Engagement:Build and nurture relationships with supporters and the local community.
  • Maintain Excellence:Uphold high shop standards and adhere to our retail processes to support Sobell House Hospice’s mission.

Recruitment timeline

Shortlisting will take place on a rolling basis for all applications meeting the essential role criteria. This will continue until the vacancy has been successfully filled. Interviews will be held in two stages:

  • Remote/phone screening
  • In-person interview
