The role will include evening, weekend, and bankholiday working.£ 12.00 per hourResLife Programme managerN/ABournemouth University Halls of ResidencePurpose of roleThe role contributes to the delivery of activities and events that enhance the studentexperience, encourage participation, and support the development of social connectionsand life skills.ResLife Assistants actively engage with students living in their designated halls, helping tocreate inclusive, welcoming communities and supporting students in their transition touniversity life.By fostering a positive atmosphere and encouraging involvement, the role supportsstudent wellbeing, connection, and belonging, particularly for students who may be at riskof social isolation.About the roleThe ResLife Assistant supports the delivery of a lively, friendly, and supportiveresidential community within Bournemouth University halls of residence throughthe ResLife programme.Apply online via subu.org.uk/JobsResLife Assistant13Key TasksProgramme Delivery and EngagementSupport the delivery of a programme of social and community-buildingactivities for students living in university accommodation.Work collaboratively with SUBU staff, accommodation teams, and otherrelevant university stakeholders to encourage participation and engagement.Attend and support events and activities to ensure a positive and welcomingstudent experience.Social media and PromotionPromote ResLife activities and events through a range of methods, includingsocial and print media, noticeboards, word of mouth.With an interest in social media, contribute to the creation of content onrelevant social media platforms.Community BuildingProactively engage with students within the residential community,encouraging positive relationships between neighbours.Support students to connect with one another and participate in activities thatbuild friendships and social networks.Role model positive behaviour and promote respectful community standardswithin the accommodation.Welcome and SignpostingSupport student arrivals during arrivals weekends in collaboration withaccommodation providers.Assist with welcoming new residents, sharing information about the ResLifeprogramme, and signposting students to relevant communication platformsand SUBU services.Monitoring, Reporting and ComplianceAttend meetings with the line manager other ResLife Assistants to supportconsistency of practice and information sharing.Complete required paperwork and record-keeping to ensure key data andactivity information is logged accurately.Report accidents, incidents, or concerns in line with agreed Health and Safetyprocedures.Student Welfare and SafeguardingAct as a visible and approachable presence within the halls.Raise student welfare concerns with appropriate teams, including StudentServices and accommodation providers, in line with guidance and boundariesof the role.Identify and escalate behaviour or disciplinary concerns to halls managementwhere necessary.14Person SpecificationCurrent full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student at Bournemouth University.Understanding of issues, especially those related to communal living.Experience supporting events, activities, or initiativesKnowledge of health and safety requirements including risk assessments whenarranging or managing events, social or educational activities.Experience of living in university managed accommodation.Experience of working in a pastoral or similar role with students/young people.Experience and knowledge of SUBU and Bournemouth University.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to persuade,motivate and organise others.Mature outlook, reliable and flexibleDBS check will be requiredTraining and DevelopmentAttend mandatory training sessions to understand the ResLife programme, roleresponsibilities, health and safety requirements, and designated accommodationcontext.Engage positively with ongoing development and feedbackAccommodation RequirementThe ResLife Assistant is required to live in designated accommodation to effectivelyperform the role.If a ResLife Assistant is no longer able to carry out the duties outlined in thisdocument, they will be required to move out of the designated accommodation.Where the individual is covered by the BU accommodation guarantee, alternativeaccommodation will be provided by Bournemouth University.Where the individual is not covered by the BU accommodation guarantee,Bournemouth University will support the individual to source alternativeaccommodation, which may be outside the BU accommodation portfolio.The accommodation provided is single occupancy for the sole use of the ResLifeAssistant and must not be sub-let.subu.org.uk
