This position offers an opportunity for anenergetic person to work directly with the Director of Sport.Sport is an integral aspect of student life at Tettenhall College, with a richtradition of excellence and a substantial number of students participating inour diverse sporting programmes. Our aim is to make a meaningful and lastingimpact on all students through sports, fostering their development intooutstanding individuals. As part of our commitment to achieving excellence inboth performance and engagement, we are making significant investments inSport, with the exploration of a strength and conditioning unit and full sizeastro turf. Whilst proud of our diverse sporting heritage, we are forward-facing, seeking tocultivate a dynamic and progressive approach to sports. Core sports such asrugby, hockey, netball, football, cricket, and swimming form the foundation,complemented by a broad-ranging sports curriculum. Students can representthe college in over twenty sports, spanning from Ultimate Frisbee and dance toskiing or horse riding. The rapidly growing enrichment sport programme aimsto provide diverse opportunities, facilitating every student’s exploration ofsporting interests. All students engage in a Games afternoon each week, with team practicesscheduled before and after the school day, as well as during lunchtimes. Oursports department, comprised of specialist sports teachers, external coaches,and teachers of other academic subjects, supports the sports programme. Thesports facilities are distributed around the main college site, but we do utiliseseveral other local facilities to enhance our provisions. The main site features asports hall with indoor cricket nets, floodlit netball courts, indoor swimmingpool, floodlit all-weather Astroturf pitch, rugby and football pitches, cricketpitches, cross country trails and orienteering.  Sports is taught alongside academic PE throughout the school from year 1upwards. Pupils can continue studying PE at GCSE (Edexcel) and A-level (OCR).The Sport and Physical Education DepartmentBoarding Duties & Responsibilities Share the responsibility for the health and safety, well-being andsafeguarding of all pupils. Promote high standards of punctuality, behaviour and good manners withall pupils, taking appropriate action where necessary. Be fully aware of Tettenhall College’s policies and procedures relating tothe behaviour of, and safeguarding of, young people and act inaccordance with these.  Available at the beginning of term to meet and greet boarders and theirparents/guardians.Available at the end of term to enable the fluid process of boardersleaving for holidays: meeting of taxis, parents or guardians and themonitoring and clearing of each house.Contribute to the boarding house duty rota as required by theHousemaster/ Housemistress. When on duty, supervise boarders by being a visible presence in theHouse. Ensuring that the House is maintained as an orderly and well-disciplined community and that the House rules are followed. Carry out all House routines and registers as specified by theHousemaster/ Housemistress. Resident during duty days and weekends.Attend all meals and be available via the House duty mobile phone at alltimes on duty days.Play an active role in the supervision of prep. Offering where possible,advice on organisation, approach to written work, management ofworkload and other appropriate study skills.Mentor a group of boarders academically. This includes identifying the needfor support where necessary and reporting all academic concerns to theHousemaster/ Housemistress. Ensure that any incidents or communications from parents are logged andreported to the Housemaster/ Housemistress. Liaise with the Housemaster/ Housemistress over pastoral, disciplinary,maintenance or health and safety matters. Communicate openly and regularly with parents/ guardians of the boardershaving consulted or informed the Housemaster/ Housemistress ifcircumstances allow. Liaise with the School Nurses on boarder health issues and issues medicationfollowing boarding procedures. Attend and assist with House activities and trips as required by theHousemaster/ Housemistress.Attend and contribute to meetings as required. Contribute to the marketing and promotion of the College.Attend INSET as required for the better performance of their boarding duties.Ensure that national minimum standards for boarding schools are appliedconsistently.Provide excellent pastoral care through effective communication with boardingpupils and teamwork with colleagues.Promote a culture within the House that provides a vibrant living environmentthat promotes security and brings out the best in every pupil.Engage fully with professional development opportunities within the House.Educated to degree level with a suitable sporting qualification.Have relevant experience/qualifications in playing and coaching anumber of sports.Caring, positive and reliable with a good sense of humour. Experience of working with, teaching, coaching or supporting youngpeople. Enthusiasm and willingness to get involved in the life of a vibrantBoarding School. Flexibility, stamina and adaptability, with a willingness to undertakeextra duties when required. Ability to work with initiative and with others as part of a team. Competent in the use of ICT.
