For the avoidance of doubt, theboarding week runs Sunday evening to Friday and the weekend constitutesSaturday. Weekend working involves 15 weekends on duty (although staffmay be called upon in an emergency). The Monday to Saturday day-timecommitment will be in the region of 16 hours averaged over the term. Week-end duty includes providing support in artistic classes on a Saturdaymorning (on some weekends).Every effort will be made to provide a 24 hour period of non-contact timeper week. Where this may not be possible for timetabling reasons, thensuitable arrangements for substantial periods of non-contact time will bemade. This situation reflects current working rotas, however flexibility maybe required on occasion as these may have to be adapted to meetoperational requirements.There is a requirement to provide two weeks of cover during the IntensiveCourses. At Aud Jebsen Hall only, there is a requirement to work oneafternoon of cover each week at Jebsen House in Covent Garden.House staff must be resident during term time (even on nights off), in case ofemergency, but may ask permission from the APPW for occasional absencesfor special occasions. No holiday may be taken during term time, the lastweek of the summer break or when there is planned Inset.OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSTTo be an integral part of the House team within one of our boarding houses,delivering excellent and compliant pastoral care for students, whilesupporting the academic life of the School.We are recruiting for one Resident Graduate Assistant (RGA) position basedat each School site:White Lodge, Richmond Park (Years 7 - 11 students)Aud Jebsen Hall, Pimlico (1st and 2nd Year Degree Students aged 16-19) Candidates will apply through a single process and will be appointed to alocation based on suitability and operational need.SUMMARY OF THE ROLEOur Resident Graduate Assistants support inboth the boarding and day to day academicsupport of our students, ensuring they have asecure and supportive ‘home from home’ duringterm time. They will also have a timetable actingas a classroom assistant or supporting studentson a one-to-one basis. These are residentialroles and accommodation will be provided inour Boarding House. Suitable training and ongoing support will be providedon an ongoing basis which is vital in the early days of the role. In Junior House at White Lodge, the Resident Graduate Assistant will takeresponsibility for whole groups of students at key moments of the day,particularly during morning wake-ups and bedtime, ensuring smoothroutines and consistent pastoral care. From waking up students in themorning until the lights go out at night, each day is completely different.This makes the role of Resident Graduate Assistant a challenging but hugelyfulfilling one. The successful candidates will be graduates considering a career in teachingor a related sector. MAIN DUTIESEnsuring The Royal Ballet School’s ‘Boarding Principles’ are effectivelyimplemented in the day to day life of the HouseBeing a part of creating a structured, secure but enabling community inHouse where students can grow and flourish artistically, academically andas a human beingDelivering the procedures and policies required in the ‘Boarding Handbook’Implementation of compliance checks for the HouseContributing to an effective trips and activities programme for studentsduring boarding timeBeing part of an effective, proactive and caring House team with studentwelfare at its’ heartCare and support of boarders outside of the routine of the School dayUndertaking a day time role in support of the academic and broader life ofthe School which may include: relevant administration, support of medicalcover, mealtime registers and supervision, helping with special events andexternal trip etc. but will primarily be about delivering classroom- basedassistance.
