from 01 September 2026 | 30 hours per week | initially limited to 3 years | fully funded PhD Programme

About the chair

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Chair of Data Science at ESCP Business School in

Berlin. Our research draws on Data Science / AI tools to study how people and organizations make decisions and how

to improve them. This includes forecasting algorithms, large language models, but also behavioral experiments and

other methods. We are particularly interested in settings in which professionals must act under time pressure, limited

information, and imperfect models of the world.

Your Responsibilities

Research:

You will work closely with Prof. Dr. Florian M. Artinger. The research is expected to be published in leading journals.

Service to the chair/school:

You will participate in activities aimed at raising the profile of the chair and ESCP Business School.

Your Profile

• Strong interest in data science, AI, and decision-making research

• Very good Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as psychology, economics, business, computer science, statistics,

physics, or a related discipline

• Experience with at least one data science or statistical programming tool, such as Python or R

• Strong analytical skills and interest in academic research

• Very good English skills & high level of responsibility, commitment, and initiative
