JOB DESCRIPTION
Relief Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
Personal assistant is required for a 10 year old boy living in Pontrennau who has been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD.
The hours will be used to support him out in the community to activities he enjoys during the school holidays, although this may increase to term time as well in the future.
When he feels comfortable with someone, he is social, chatty about subjects he is passionate about and has a cheeky sense of humour.
His favourite hobbies are gaming and football and he would love someone with similar interests to talk about this and to take him out to kick a football around and even introduce him to new sports.
HOURS OF WORK
6 hours p/w currently in school holidays only
Can be flexible with times but would prefer midweek day times
RATE OF PAY
£14.10 an hour
TASKS INVOLVED
- Support out to activities he enjoys
- Ensure his safety at all times. He needs support when in busy places as his ability to get distracted/excited about things can lead to no sense of danger. He can also become upset when he feels things are unfair, at which point he needs someone to explain the situation simply and clearly
- He has some difficulty with personal hygiene and will need to be told to wash hands, discreetly encouraged to go to the toilet etc.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
- Reliable & punctual
- Patient
- Someone with similar interests (football/ gaming) is desirable
- Car driver is essential
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Support cannot be carried out in the personal assistant’s own home.
Please Note: Dewis Centre for Independent Living is acting on behalf of a third party and will not be your employer or be liable for any issues arising out of your employment should you be offered employment.
Thank you.
