Rehearsal Accompanist
Rehearsal Accompanist
Wetherby Choral Society
Following the promotion of our current accompanist, William Campbell, to the position of Assistant Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral, Wetherby Choral Society are seeking to appoint a new accompanist from September 2026.
WCS is a non-auditioned SATB choir of 100 singers who perform four concerts each year with orchestra and professional soloists in Wetherby Parish Church. Rehearsals take place in Wetherby Parish Church on Monday evenings from 7.30-9.30p.m. from September to the end of June.
Charlie Murray became our Music Director in 2025, following the retirement of our long standing MD, John Dunford. We are enjoying a memorable initial season with Charlie.
We require someone that shares our love of the choral tradition and who will relish the prospect of accompanying repertoire from the last 400 years. They should be a fluent pianist with good sight-reading and score-reading abilities, preferably with experience of the demands of choral accompaniment. Opportunities exist for playing continuo at concerts, though this is not essential.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to accompany a regular rehearsal as part of the selection process. They will be paid our usual rehearsal fee for the audition. Remuneration and contract period are negotiable, and subject to an annual review.
Please send a letter of application and CV to secretary@wetherbychoral.org.uk from whom further details about this position including remuneration are available. Closing date for application is 26 April 2026
