Creating Homes. Building Futures. Transforming Lives.

At Catholic Care, we believe that children move through life, not services.

Steps for Tomorrow is our growing residential children’s service, created to provide small, therapeutic homes where children who have experienced trauma can rebuild trust, develop resilience and experience the stability and nurture that every child deserves.

We are not seeking to create dependency on residential care. Our ambition is to create homes that act as a bridge towards brighter futures, helping children move successfully towards family-based care, independence and lifelong positive outcomes.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an exceptional Registered Manager to join us on this journey.

This is more than a Registered Manager role

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a service from the ground up.

Alongside leading a children’s home, you will play a key role in recruiting and developing an outstanding staff team, creating the culture and ethos of the home, supporting the development of future homes and helping us realise our vision for therapeutic residential care.

You will be joining an organisation that is ambitious for children, ambitious for staff and ambitious about the difference we can make.

What makes Steps for Tomorrow different?

  • Small homes supporting just two children, enabling truly individualised care.
  • A therapeutic, trauma-informed approach embedded throughout practice.
  • A clear focus on permanence, relationships and positive futures.
  • Strong leadership support and investment in professional development.
  • The opportunity to influence service development and organisational growth.

A commitment to creating homes that feel like homes.

About You

We are looking for someone who is more than a manager.

We are looking for a leader who:

  • Shares our belief that children deserve exceptional care and opportunity.
  • Can create a culture where children feel safe, valued and heard.
  • Understands the impact of trauma and can translate this understanding into everyday practice.
  • Is passionate about developing people and building high-performing teams.
  • Can balance warmth, compassion and nurture with accountability and professional standards.
  • Has the confidence to lead through challenge whilst maintaining a relentless focus on children.

Whether you are an experienced Registered Manager or an aspiring leader ready for the next step, we would love to hear from individuals who share our values and vision.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience of working within children’s residential care.
  • Experience of leading and developing staff teams.
  • Sound knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015) and Quality Standards.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to undertake this qualification immediately upon appointment.

What We Offer

  • A genuine opportunity to shape and influence a growing service.
  • Support to complete the Level 5 qualification where required.
  • Investment in leadership development and career progression.
  • A values-led organisation where relationships matter.
  • The opportunity to make a lasting difference to children’s lives.

Join Us

If you are excited by the prospect of creating exceptional homes, developing outstanding teams and helping children build brighter futures, we would welcome a conversation.

At Steps for Tomorrow, we are building more than children’s homes.

We are creating places where children can belong, heal and thrive.
