Regional Veterans’ Outreach Officer (Southeast)
Regional Veterans’ Outreach Officer (Southeast)
Temporary (Part-time, 20 hours)
Closing date 26 April 2026
Founded in 1682, the Royal Hospital Chelsea is a unique veteran community for around 300 Chelsea Pensioners. Rooted in service, history, and community, it is a place where connection, care and pride matter. We are now looking for a temporary Regional Veterans’ Outreach Officer to help us extend that sense of belonging to older veterans across the Southeast of England. The initial contract will be for a three‑month period, with the possibility of extension.
This temporary role supports the Head of Veterans’ Outreach to deliver and grow the Chelsea Pensioners Veterans’ Outreach programme during an exciting period of regional expansion. You will spend your time building trusted relationships, reaching veterans who may feel isolated, and creating opportunities for comradeship both in person and online. Success in this role means being proactive, approachable and genuinely motivated by making a positive difference in people’s lives.
You will work closely with charities, community groups, carers and volunteers, bringing people together in practical and imaginative ways. You will also be comfortable gathering insight and data, reflecting on what works, and using that learning to improve services and demonstrate impact. A willingness to travel across the Southeast, manage your time independently and act with empathy, professionalism and integrity is essential.
This is a part‑time role, working 20 hours per week, with some flexibility and occasional out‑of‑hours activity. You will be based in the Southeast and will need a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as travel across the region is essential. Mileage is reimbursed for work‑related travel, and there will be occasional travel to London for events or meetings.
If you enjoy connecting people, value collaboration, and are driven by purpose rather than process, this is an opportunity to be part of an organisation where your work truly matters.
