Shaftesbury Education is three settings, Victoria School in Poole; Millie College in Holton-Lee and Nash College in Bromley.

Shaftesbury Millie College sits within a group of specialist education provision; this group comprises a special independent school (Victoria School in Poole) and a specialist college provision (Nash College in Bromley). Each of these settings caters for a wide range of learning need and disability, including autism and physical disabilities.

We now have an opening for an enthusiastic and motivated Recruitment Officer to join our People team, and working across our directorate at Victoria School, with potential remote working at Nash and Millie College.

Job outline

Based at Victoria School, the Recruitment Officer will be responsible for leading and managing the recruitment of suitably qualified, skilled, and value driven staff to support learners across the school and college. The role involved developing and implementing a safer recruitment strategy in collaboration with Head of settings; ensuring the recruitment cycle support the school/college commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high-quality provision for leaners with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for teaching, learning support, therapy and operational roles within the school and college. Manage end to end recruitment processes, from posting the vacancy through to job offer.
  • Promote vacancies through appropriate education and focused recruitment channels.
  • Coordinate shortlisting against agreed criteria, ensuring fairness, equality, and transparency.
  • Coordinate interview processes, including arranging panels, timetables, and candidate communications.
  • Manage and coordinate recruitment activity for teaching, support, therapy and operational staff in line with workforce planning priorities.
  • Support the recruitment and vetting of agency, bank, and temporary staff in line with safeguarding expectations.
  • Support robust selection processes, including values-based recruitment and appropriate assessment of candidates’ suitability to work with children and young people.
