Our Mission
To create a safe, respectful environment in Lichfield District and Tamworth for people experiencing substance misuse problems. Our service is run and supported by people with lived experience of addiction who have found a better way to live in recovery.
We help, encourage and support individuals out of active addiction and into positive, sustainable recovery using a recovery-focused, person-centred approach. Through shared experience, peer support and practical guidance, we help people develop new coping skills and life tools.
We work alongside key agencies across the area, building strong networks to meet individual needs. We provide signposting and peer support for education, volunteering, employment, family support and local recovery groups.

Primary Job Purpose
The Recovery Coordinator will support the day-to-day delivery of services at Better Way Recovery, working directly with Recovery Seekers and Volunteers to promote safety, engagement and positive recovery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead by example and provide guidance and support to Recovery Seekers and Volunteers.
Maintain the health and safety of Recovery Seekers on site, including completing risk assessments and managing risks as they arise.
Support Recovery Seekers through key working, signposting and peer support to improve mental health and achieve abstinence.
Complete administrative duties including accurate record keeping, data input and use of Microsoft Office and other required software.
Facilitate groups and workshops and ensure the daily timetable is followed.
Support Recovery Seekers to achieve their recovery goals using a person-centred approach, ensuring they are actively involved in planning and service delivery.
Provide day-to-day supervision and support to volunteers.
Carry out community outreach work as required.
Support the Centre Manager with day-to-day tasks as directed.
Complete the delegated Journey Tracker list on a monthly basis.
Carry out daily welfare calls to Recovery Seekers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Treat all Recovery Seekers with respect and dignity, maintaining clear and professional boundaries.
Build positive and constructive working relationships with Recovery Seekers and their families where appropriate.
Complete and maintain progress reports for the Board of Trustees.
Provide inductions for new Recovery Seekers, including rights, responsibilities, safeguarding procedures, complaints processes and centre rules.
Carry out comprehensive assessments of Recovery Seekers’ needs using the prescribed format and record findings accurately.
Support the Centre Manager in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including community partnership work, multi-agency meetings and school talks.
Ensure a structured daily routine and weekly programme of activities is in place and encourage engagement.
Check and update the appointment diary daily.
Take responsibility for fire safety procedures, including weekly fire alarm testing and evacuation support.
Ensure signing-in and signing-out procedures are followed.
Attend and contribute to professional and multi-agency meetings where required (including Probation and Social Services).
Notify the Centre Manager of all incidents, concerns or complaints in line with policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of petty cash and expenditure in line with policy.
Check and respond to emails daily.
Answer telephone calls and manage enquiries and referrals professionally.
Adhere to all charity policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Whistleblowing, Complaints, Equality and Diversity, Health & Safety, Lone Working and Disciplinary procedures.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the line manager.
