Railway Assistant
Hours: Variable upon demand of service
Holiday: Hours accrual payment based on 28 days annual entitlement (pro-rata)
Salary: £8.00 per hour for U18s / £12.71 per hour for over 18s

Ness Islands Railway is looking for temporary assistant on a casual contract to help operating and running our wee train during the Easter school holidays and the summer school holidays, and weekends in between until the end of the season. The successful candidate will be offered working hours based on the demand.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RAILWAY ASSISTANT
What you'll be doing...
Reporting to the Deputy Commerce Manager (Tourism and online), you can expect your working day to include the following:
- Set up at the start of the day: you will help preparing the premises for the day prior to opening.
- Ticket and Kiosk sales: you will be selling tickets to our passengers, and snacks and drinks to Park visitors.
- Greeting and queue management: while our passengers wait for their turn, you will greet them at the gate and look after the queue.
- Guard duties: you will travel at the back of the train ensuring both passengers and staff are safe during the train journey.
- End of the day / cashing up: you will help with the cashing up at the end of the day and the closing down.
