Description:
Brian Meehan Racing is seeking a motivated Pupil Assistant to join our professional and friendly team at our yard on Manton Estate, Marlborough.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and enthusiastic individual to play a key role within the team, assisting the head lad and assistant trainer in the day-to-day running of the yard.
This position comes with the opportunity to progress to a more senior role with the yard for the right candidate.
This job is offered with a fully funded Level 3 NVQ Qualification attached to further career development with our training partner - Sheldrake Training - Sheldrake Top Provider of High-Quality Apprenticeship Training
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting the head person and assistant trainer with the smooth running of the yard
Overseeing the yard at weekends on a rota basis
Daily checking and monitoring of horses
Feeding and general horse care
Assisting vets
Providing routine medical care and treatments
Riding
Requirements:
Previous experience working in a racing yard
Confident and capable rider
Strong horsemanship and attention to detail
Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility
Good team player with a positive attitude
Working Pattern & Benefits:
Working 1 in 3 weekends with a afternoon off each week.
