For more than 50 years, our small theatre has championed bold new plays, rediscovered neglected classics, nurtured artists and opened up theatre to our local community.
But our size is also our challenge.
With only 180 seats and no regular Arts Council England funding, ticket income can never cover the full cost of producing the work our audiences expect.
Philanthropic support is essential: it gives artists the resources to make exceptional theatre, enables young people and communities to take part, and protects the Orange Tree’s role as a creative home for Richmond and beyond.
Help shape our future
Production Support
Help bring an Orange Tree production to life.
Your support invests directly in the artists, rehearsal time, design and craft needed to make ambitious theatre in our uniquely intimate, in-the-round space, with opportunities to see the creative process up close.
OT New Artists
Invest in the next generation of theatre-makers.
Your support gives emerging writers, directors, designers, stage managers and creatives the mentorship, experience and professional platform they need to build lasting careers.
Community Support
Help make the Orange Tree a theatre for everyone.
Your support enables people of all ages to take part in creative activity, from early years sessions to adult groups and specialist community partnerships, while funding bursaries and removing barriers to participation.
Shakespeare in Schools
Help introduce young people to the power of Shakespeare and live theatre.
Your support enables pupils to experience dynamic performances and workshops that build confidence, creativity, literacy and oracy, while bursaries ensure that cost is not a barrier for schools.
Capital Project
Help create an Orange Tree that is truly open to everyone.
Your support will transform our front-of-house and backstage spaces, improving accessibility, sustainability and comfort while protecting the intimacy of our 180-seat, in-the-round theatre.
