These are exciting times for the Charity, and we have an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised professional with experience of Partner Financial Management & Oversight & Financial Control, Monitoring & Reporting, along with interpersonal and communication skills to join our dedicated in Ethiopia. As our Programme Finance Officer you will ensure that The Donkey Sanctuary (TDS) partners comply with TDS and, where applicable, government requirements. The post holder will work closely with partners and programme staff to review financial reports and make recommendations as needed.
About you:
- 1st Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Grant Management in INGO.
- At least two years' experience of working with and building the capacity of local partner organizations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of report writing and good English knowledge.
- Good knowledge of accounting software like Quick-books and Peach-tree.
- Competent IT skills.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to make good decisions under pressure and deliver on deadlines.
About the role:
Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –
- Review partner financial reports in collaboration with programme teams to ensure compliance with TDS and donor requirements.
- Ensure partner financial records are accurate, up to date, and properly maintained.
- Provide technical support to partner finance teams to strengthen reporting quality.
- Support internal and external audits and follow up on implementation of audit recommendations.
- Assist in investigations related to suspected fraud or financial irregularities.
- Conduct financial monitoring visits (annual, biannual, and ad hoc) with programme teams.
- Support partners in preparing financial proposals and donor reports.
- Review monthly financial reports from Quick Books with Program Teams.
- Support annual budgeting processes in collaboration with the Finance & Administration Manager.
What we offer in return:
Based at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Bole Sub City, Woreda 02, next to Bon Royal Hotel, this is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible, working 37.5 hours per week, 08.30-17.00, Monday-Friday. The post-holder will have the legal right to live and work in Ethiopia and will be able to travel regionally on a regular basis.
