Job Description

Applicants
We are keen to hear from applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experience, and particularly
those who are currently underrepresented in the environmental sector and affected by the issues we
focus on. We also encourage applications from those who can bring excellent transferrable experience,
but don’t necessarily meet every aspect of the skills and experience listed below.

We would expect to see experience in:
•  Great organisational skills and real attention to detail;
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills, with an ability to adapt both written and verbal

communication styles to address a range of different people and audiences;

•  An interest and passion in the environment and sustainability;
•  Ability to self-manage, be proactive and flexible;
• Confident in prioritisation and progressing own workload; and
• Confident using and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel &

PowerPoint.

Other desirable experience:
• Knowledge of the issues we focus on isn’t essential, but if you have an interest in clean air,

education and/or big tech, it would be great to hear about this.

About us
Global Action Plan has been taking action on our climate and ecological crisis since 1993. Our vision is a
world where connected and resilient communities are actively shaping a just and sustainable planet.

The climate and ecological crisis is not separate - it’s a symptom of deeper, connected problems. Extreme
inequality, disconnection from nature, toxic online spaces, overstretched health systems, and weakened
democracy all drive the crisis and limit action on it.

Together, we can take on the systems behind the crisis - and build a fairer, healthier, more sustainable
future. Global Action Plan exists to confront those systems head-on, with clarity, collaboration, and vision.

We do this by taking action to influence - building people-powered pathways to systemic change -
combining bold research, grassroots mobilisation, innovative partnerships and high-impact advocacy.
Whether we’re equipping young people to lead community transformation through their schools,
influencing national policy on clean air, or holding Big Tech to account, we act as both a catalyst and
connector: turning insight into action, and action into long-term change.

Over the last year alone our reach extended to over one million people across the UK and beyond, with
tens of thousands actively engaging in campaigns, events, and learning, and five thousand individuals
mobilised to take action. Crucially, these aren’t just numbers - they represent real shifts in attitudes,
behaviours, and policy commitments.

Job Description

Is Global Action Plan the right fit for you?
Global Action Plan is an organisation that enjoys a fun and mission driven culture. We deal with serious
issues but take a positive approach to creating change. Staff culture is incredibly important to us. We take
great care to bring in people who can thrive and uniquely contribute to our values:

Value

What this looks like

What we look for

We challenge
the norm

We get stuff
done

We listen &
share openly

Radical change is needed. We dare to think
big and re-imagine how we live and work to
bring about real shifts in behaviour and tackle
systemic issues not symptoms.
We work hard to have a real impact in
everything we do. We aren’t happy with talk,
we want action, today.
We are honest, straight talking and open.
Whether data, ideas, projects or tools we seek
to share and collaborate for bigger impact.

We are driven
by compassion

We care about the planet and also the people
who live on it. We have fun on our mission and
make sure that no one gets left behind along
the way.

Creativity and passion for tackling big hairy
environmental and societal issues. Ability to
think big. People who walk the talk in their
personal and work lives.
Self-starters who are excited to propose their
own direction and priorities - not just receive
them.
People who can see and share their
weaknesses as well as their strengths. People
who don’t hide behind others or jargon. An
openness to alternative ideas and points of
view.
Relationship builders with great networks to
draw on for support and ideas. People who
really care about their co-workers and enjoy
working and collaborating in teams.
