20,000 – 22,380 Euros (580,290,430 – 649.340,625 VND) per annum varying based on locations, experience and skills.

The role

The Producer Engagement Manager will be responsible for maintaining and increasing certified production (farms and feed mills) in the country to meet the growing demand for ASC labelled products in our priority markets. He/she functions as the local day-to-day account manager of local production companies and their sites/mills.

The position’s primary goals are to maintain certified supply during the transition to the new Farm Standard and expand certified supply including ASC’s Improvement Projects by securing and deepening the commitment of producers, processors and feed mills to ASC certification. This is achieved by building effective working relationships with existing and new clients, enhancing the quality of our producer engagement and support services and by engaging with critical other stakeholders such as e.g. the government in the country, to create conditions for support and uptake of the ASC programmes.

The role will also support effective implementation of the ASC Supply Module and the onboarding and training of feed, farm and CoC certificate holders in ASC’s digital traceability platform (TraceASC).

The job combines the need to convey the commercial value of the ASC programme towards producers, processors and feed mills, as well as the need to support and train them in understanding our standards, certification processes and supporting tools, whilst answering technical questions in close coordination with ASC technical teams. The role requires a good understanding of how a third-party certification programme such as the ASC works. The scope of the work focusses on aquaculture producers, feed mills and processors in the country. We are seeking an experienced individual in this sector.

Role responsibilities

  • Support farms and feedmills to achieve and maintain ASC certification through training and in providing timely responses to (technical) enquiries regarding ASC requirements, certification methodologies, ASC logo use and all other topics within the ASC certification and Improver process
  • Support CoC Certificate Holders in adoption and maintenance of ASC Supply Chain Module requirements, including liaison with technical team and support on training
  • Support the TraceASC team to onboard and train relevant Certificate Holders in the use of the TraceASC platform (including ongoing engagement on data completion)
  • Work alongside the ASC AIP team to assist in delivery of effective implementation and assurance procedures within the AIP programme
  • Serve as the on-the-ground representative for the ASC and promote the programme locally with relevant stakeholders such as the industry associations and government, seeking opportunities for collaboration
  • Encourage all local stakeholders (farms, feed mills, processors, NGOs, seafood industry associations, experts, academics,, government) to participate in the public consultations of the ASC programme
  • Develop a local network with aquaculture service providers and enable connections between service providers with farms.
  • Strengthen ASC intelligence about the farming sector in your designated area, map the trade flows of farmed products into domestic and overseas markets highlighting the opportunities and target companies to increase ASC certified supply to meet demand
  • Maintain the ASC SeaRM with relevant contacts and associated communications. Maintain internal information flow with other teams, such as Market Development team, to maximize leverage from the markets and other linked ASC departments.
  • Promoting the value of Farm, Feed and Chain of Custody certification and the ASC logo and increase adoption of certification and ASC Improver Program in the area through account visits, presentations and workshops
  • Maintain relations with certified companies, connecting their supply to markets/ buyers, regularly inform them about the uptake of ASC in the market and about relevant changes in the programme

Skills and experience

  • Relevant qualifications, preferably a university degree in aquaculture, marine biology or food science
  • At least 4 years of relevant in depth understanding and working experience in the seafood industry (certification, seafood farming, feed, processing sector or auditing experience)
  • Working knowledge of aquaculture certification schemes in general and ASC in particular
  • Established network of relations with key producers and processors in the country, but also industry associations, the government and local NGOs and consultants supporting the sector
  • Engaging and trustworthy with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to work collaboratively with integrity and cultivate and manage relationships at different seniority levels
  • Ability to explain technical details in an understandable way
  • Strong focus on the delivery of excellent customer services
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan and time manage time effectively
  • Pro-active “can-do” personality with willingness to take initiative to improve current practice
  • Well-developed analytical and systematic problem-solving skills, demonstrating sound reasoning abilities and logical decision making also while working under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a globally operating team, but also the skills and character to work remotely
  • Fluent in English and Vietnamese
