This is an exciting job for a person with experience of organizing events, administration or the arts in Wales. The PRODUCER will collaborate with the Artistic Director and company staff and with the production team to organize the only professional and international festival in Wales for the arts for young people and children. The festival takes place during the month of March 8-12, 2027

It is a job for 7 months; it will start around June/July 2026 until the end of March/mid April 2027.
It will initially be a part-time position (20 hours per week) with the hours increasing to full-time for February and March 2027.

Opening Doors-Opening Doors 
Wales' International Theater Festival for young audiences 2027

The festival includes some of the best theater productions for children and young people from Wales and abroad. The performances are held in theaters and schools in Aberystwyth and in other towns throughout Wales.

OPENING DOORS is:
•    enable children, young people and families in Wales to experience some of the world's best theater productions;
•    an important meeting place for artists from Wales and abroad;
•    an opportunity to promote products from Wales to foreign countries.

Performances will be given in Aberystwyth and, in addition, all of the foreign companies will perform in other centers and towns throughout Wales. The company has already done much of the contacting and organizing work with the foreign companies.

The focus and center of the festival will be Aberystwyth, home of the Arad Goch Theater Company, where the performances will be held at the ARAD GOCH Centre, at the Arts Centre, Aberystwyth, at other locations in Aberystwyth and at local schools. In addition it is intended that all of the foreign companies perform in other centers in Wales.

In Aberystwyth, too, other events are held including discussions, seminars and training workshops for theater practitioners, students, young people and educators.

Other activities are organized including receptions and social events for foreign attendees, for the artists and for sponsors and the festival's 'club'.

Arad Goch's marketing machinery is used to promote the festival, taking advantage of Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch's close relationship with schools and other organizations and with the press and media. We will work closely with other centers and theaters to promote the festival in other areas.

PRODUCER

Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch is looking for an enthusiastic person to be part of the team that will organize Opening Doors Wales' International Theater Festival for Young Audiences 2027.

This is the 11th time we have held a festival. The festival performances will be staged in theaters and schools in the Aberystwyth area and elsewhere in Wales. More details about the festival can be found on our website www.agordrysua-openingdoors.cymru

The Producer will assist the Artistic Director in the areas listed under RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES below. He/she is expected to be primarily responsible for some of the areas - depending on his/her experience - while collaborating with the rest of the team on other aspects. She/he is expected to be able to work independently but above all the person appointed will be expected to be able to work easily as part of a team and respond positively to new situations at short notice.

The person appointed will be accountable to the company's Artistic Director.

This is a part-time position to begin with (20 per week) although the hours will increase towards the festive period. Exact hours can be discussed after appointment.

A contract is offered until the end of March / mid April 2027.

Job Requirements
1.    We are looking for a person who has good organizational skills and/or good administrative skills.
2. The person appointed will be completely fluent in Welsh and English, orally and in writing.
3. It would be advantageous, although not necessary, if the person appointed has experience of organizing events or has a keen interest in the theatre, the arts or children's culture.
4. The person appointed will be required to be able to handle budgetary matters (with the directors and the company clerk).
5.    During the period immediately before the festival and during the festival itself, the person appointed will be expected to be able to work flexible hours during the day and in the evening.
6. It would be advantageous, although not necessary, if the person appointed knew other European languages.

Responsibilities / Duties
The work of the ORGANIZER and ASSISTANT PRODUCER will include the following.

The Performing Companies
•    Collect administrative details from the performance companies from Wales and from abroad.
•    Collaborate with the company's Administrative Manager to liaise with the FEU (Foreign Entertainer Unit - a department of National Finance) regarding tax matters, with the Government's Department of Education and Employment regarding work permits, and the Government's Foreign Office regarding visas.
•    Collaborate with the festival's technical manager to gather technical information from the performing companies.
• Arranging accommodation for the artists.
•    Arranging transport, as needed, for the artists to and in Wales.
•    Contacting the performance companies regarding advertising and marketing material, photos etc.
• Collaborate with the marketing staff to create a 'Welcome Pack / Information about the festival'.
•    Organizing social activities, receptions during the festival for the artists.

Theatres
• Liaise with theaters and other arts centers in Wales to organize performances by the foreign companies in other theaters in Wales.
• Liaise with the centers and other theaters in Wales that stage the productions from abroad regarding agreements and arrangements, advertising and marketing.

Visitors from Abroad and from Wales
•    Collaborate with the Artistic Director to provide and send information and invitations to overseas promoters, directors and producers and those in Wales.
• Arrange accommodation for them.
•    Arranging transport, as needed, to and in Wales.
• Collaborate with the marketing staff to create a 'Welcome Pack / Information about the festival'.
•    Organizing social activities, receptions during the festival for the visitors.

Financial matters

• Collaborate with the financial clerk to keep a record of festival expenditure.

Other administrative matters

•    Coordinating temporary staff and volunteers during the week of the festival.
•    Help create a team of volunteers and provide them with work.
•    Arranging concession tickets, tickets for artists and group tickets.

Schools
•    Provide information to the marketing team so they can contact schools to market and promote the festival and its performances.

The Public
Collaborate with the marketing team to:
•    arranging marketing and advertising material;
•    distribute marketing and advertising material;
•    drafting and distributing press releases and advertisements;
•    promote the festival among social organizations and voluntary groups;
•    coordinating with the marketing staff of theaters and other centers regarding marketing material;
•    reply to inquiries from the public and the press.

Others
•    Assisting with the informal evening arrangements - receptions, parties.
•    Organise seminars, discussions and workshops before and during the festival.


SPECIFIC TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT OF THIS POSITION

The length of the agreement
The agreement is offered for a specific period, from June/July 2026 until the end of March 2027 (the exact start and end dates of the agreement will be discussed with the person appointed).

Salary
Salary is paid on a scale of £26,500 - £30,500 per annum pro rata depending on experience.

Working hours
For the first 4 months of the agreement, the PRODUCER is employed to work for 20 hours a week (with breaks for meals) and it may be more occasionally. During the period before the festival the hours will be increased (to be discussed with the appointed person) and during February and March 2027 the work will be increased to 40 hours per week. During the weeks immediately before the festival, and the week of the festival itself, the total number of hours per week could be higher than 40 hours: any additional hours will be paid extra pro rata. During the festival, the PRODUCER will be expected to work in the evenings and at weekends.
