PRIMARY TEACHER

The Position

Key Duties:

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the curriculum and the needs of all pupils.

Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment that promotes high standards of achievement and behaviour.

Assess, monitor and record pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning and development.

Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs, abilities and learning styles of pupils.

To work closely with the Learning Support Department, where appropriate.

Maintain accurate records of attendance, attainment and pupil progress.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan curriculum activities and contribute to school improvement initiatives.

Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress, achievements and any concerns.

To provide oral or wriƩen assessments, records and reports on the work of the pupils as required by the School, including the punctual and meaningful correcƟon of pupils’ work with comments as appropriate, following the Marking and Feedback Policy.

To parƟcipate as necessary in the development of the School curriculum and to contribute construcƟvely to the development of School policy and methodology.

To take part in the School’s Performance Review and Development Scheme.

To parƟcipate in In-Service Training, Peer Support and other means to facilitate ConƟnual Professional Development as required by the School’s ‘Professional Update’ programme.

To play a full and fair part in the staff duty programme.

To build good working relaƟonships with pupils, parents and colleagues – teaching and support staff – in all aspects of school life.

To parƟcipate in the administraƟon and organisaƟon of the School as deemed appropriate by the Management Team.

To aƩend meeƟngs, including staff meeƟngs and school funcƟons, during and outside term Ɵmes as directed.

To maintain displays of pupils’ work within the classroom and corridors.

To aƩend, and take part in, school and year group assemblies, staff meeƟngs and departmental meeƟngs.

To be involved in Open Mornings.

To take part in organising and supervising educaƟonal visits.

To aƩend Parents Evenings for the classes taught.

Support the social, emotional and personal development of pupils, promoting their wellbeing and safeguarding at all times.

Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development activities and school events.

Contribute to extracurricular activities, educational visits and wider school life where appropriate.

Fulfil all safeguarding, health and safety, and statutory responsibilities in line with school policies and current legislation.

To supervise non-teaching areas e.g. corridors, cloakrooms, dining rooms, playgrounds, Late Prep etc as requested.

To supervise a lunch table of pupils if required.

To contribute to the quality and care and welfare of pupils by providing comfort and care for minor accidents.

Extra-Curricular AcƟviƟes:

To parƟcipate in the extracurricular programme within the school as required by the Head.

Willing to drive school minibuses on school trips, events and visits.

Skills and Experience Required

Qualifications

A relevant degree.

RegistraƟon with GTCS.

Terms

This is a full-time, temporary position. The role is available from Monday 24 August 2026 until 02 July 2027.

Salary

The salary range for this role will be dependent upon skills and experience.

In addition, we offer complimentary refreshments during working hours, lunch on site during term time, a great working environment as part of a close-knit team and the possibility of opportunities for the role to grow. Fee concessions are also available for staff children who attend Glenalmond College and Craigclowan School.

Pension

You will be eligible to join the Glenalmond Group of Schools Pension Scheme. This is a Defined Contribution Scheme.

The employer’s contribution rate is a minimum of 8% and a maximum of 14% of salary. The default method of paying pension contributions will be made via salary exchange. Should you wish to opt out of this method of payment, you may do so by placing a request to the HR Office. The terms and conditions of the pension scheme, including any associated benefits, shall be subject to the rules of the scheme, which will be provided to the Employee by the Employer. The Employer reserves the right to amend the pension scheme at its discretion, in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
