Primary School SEN Teacher
Responsible to: Head of Primary
General:
Mary Hare Primary is a small specialist school for deaf children. We currently have 22 children on roll, 6 of whom are weekly borders from different parts of the United Kingdom.
We teach using the oral/aural method which means that our children learn through listening, speaking, and writing. Many of our children also have additional SEN and therefore experience of flexible approaches to teaching are required. We teach in small classes and behaviour at the school is exemplary.
The children are very keen to learn, and we have very good relationships with the families of our children.
The Role:
You will be responsible for teaching a class of children who are deaf with other additional SEND within the school and to contribute to the wider life of the school.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate, enthusiastic, and committed to ensuring that they deliver the very best for our children.
- Flexible in their approach to teaching and able to adapt their approach to the needs of children who are deaf and may have other additional SEN needs.
- Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other teaching staff and professionals.
- Willing to train as a Teacher of the Deaf within 2 years of starting with us or is already qualified.
- Reflective on their own practice and always looking to develop professionally.
