The Acting Bishop of Durham invites applications for the position of Priest-in-Charge to serve the parish of Eighton Banks.

This is a House for Duty post in Eighton Banks on the outskirts of Gateshead. With a combination of urban living and rural settings, Eighton Banks is a unique parish in Gateshead Deanery.

The church is very keen to restart a Sunday School. One member of the PCC is taking the lead on this and has established links and has held meetings with an enabler in the Diocese with a view to starting in the very near future once all of the necessary training and resources are in place.

St Thomas’ is looking for a priest-in-charge who is welcoming, prayerful, and compassionate, who will help the church reach out to its community with the love of Christ, and equip them on their journey of faith.

Naturally, this post comes with suitable housing provided for you. An appropriate property will be purchased for this role, please discuss your requirements with the Archdeacon of Sunderland and we will try our best to facilitate them.

For more information or an informal conversation, please contact the Archdeacon of Durham: archdeacon.of.sunderland@durham.anglican.org

Closing date:  30 April 2026

Interviews: TBA

Please send all applications to human.resources@durham.anglican.org
