The Bishop of Durham invites applications for the position of Priest in Charge to serve the parishes of Cornforth & Ferryhill, and Chilton.

These are three warm, welcoming, and friendly churches in County Durham in a season of renewed missional focus. Having been overseen by an Interim Change Minister for the past two years, they are excited to build on the progress they have made as they seek to share the hope and love of Christ in their parishes.

The churches have been through a significant period of change in recent years, with more to come. They are merging together to form one parish, have discerned one building closure and are exploring another and, naturally, this comes with sadness. However, it also provides the opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to reimagine how to be the church.

Living in communities experiencing deprivation, the need for the transforming power of the gospel and a church that cares for its neighbours is pressing. Chilton, Cornforth & Ferryhill are praying for a priest in charge who can cast vision, drive mission forwards, and draw out the gifts and skills of their congregations as they seek to serve God and reach out to their communities with the hope of the gospel.
