Other Information:
You’ll find a church with deep liturgical roots and a real appetite for what comes next.
Edenbridge is a growing market town of 10,000 on the Kent, Surrey and Sussex borders, with two stations and open countryside close by. Our worship is Eucharist-centred and carefully done — sung Eucharist, BCP Evensong with a robed choir, 1662 Communion on Wednesdays, incense at festivals — alongside a cheerfully informal monthly All Age service. The liturgy is formal. The coffee afterwards isn't.
We are looking for a Priest in Charge who will:
- lead our worship with confidence, love our tradition, and help us explore how it grows
- reach the families arriving on the town's new estates and develop our work with schools
- help us shape a vision for this next chapter
- be a visible presence in the town and in our four-denomination ecumenical Covenant
In return we offer:
- a strong team around you — three Lay Readers, two Pastoral Assistants, an Anna Chaplain, a part-time Administrator, and wardens and a PCC who run things well and take your wellbeing seriously
- a Director of Music, a growing Junior Choir, two fine organs and a band of ringers
- a Grade I church in good repair, with medieval wall paintings and a Burne-Jones window
- the Eco Church Gold Award (A Rocha UK) — only the second church in the diocese
- a newly purchased four-bedroom vicarage, five minutes' walk from church
If that sounds like a church you could lead and love, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Archdeacon Nick Cornell would be glad to hear from you informally before you apply. Please email his Executive Assistant, Sal Hamlyn: sal.hamlyn@rochester.anglican.org
