CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-term, Full-time

SALARY: £24,524 per annum pro-rata

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the /Schools Manager, the PLPS Lead Coach will be responsible for delivering high quality classroom and physical activity sessions as part of Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s (NFCT) Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) programme. The role-holder is also responsible for delivery of collapsed curriculum events and PLPS competitions. This is a chance to make a real difference to the education and development of children in our local schools and communities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaise with schools to plan and implement the PLPS programme to 5–11-year-old’s, including a variety of inclusive, development-focused physical activity and classroom sessions

• Ensure structured, high-quality programme delivery following appropriate schemes of work and linking into the National Curriculum and National Governing Body strategies

• Provide 1-1 and group support for pupils, especially those with behavioural & pastoral needs

• Be a positive role model, engaging and inspiring 5–11-year-olds within the PLPS programme

• Ensure risk assessment of all sessions is complete

• Reflect on session outcomes and identify areas for continuous improvement

• Monitor and evaluate the PLPS programme, ensuring accurate and up-to-date data input, recording, and analysis via Salesforce, including supporting the Schools Manager with the information required for reporting

• Enhance teachers’ knowledge, skills, and confidence to improve PE and school sport

• Support the development of staff and contribute to in-house training programmes using knowledge and experience where appropriate

• Organise and deliver PLPS collapsed curriculum events and PLPS competitions, working with the Schools Manager

• Work with the Schools Manager to develop and maintain effective enduring working relationships with schools and partner organisations

• Cover other Trust programme delivery where necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

· NGB Level 2/UEFA C (Essential)

· AfPE Level 3/HLTA Level 4 or working towards (Essential)

· Youth Work and/or Mentoring Qualification (Desirable)

· Multi-Skills Level 2 (Desirable)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential to fulfil duties of the role:

· Experience of delivering physical education, ideally with primary-aged children

· UEFA C or equivalent Level 2 certification with some experience in practical application such as community coaching, grassroots coaching, school coaching etc.

· A strong understanding of National Curriculum/HE Frameworks, with the ability to plan & deliver engaging classroom & 1-1 developmental content

· A strong community orientation, including an appreciation of the positive impact sport can have on children and young people

· An understanding of the sport/charity sector, and the communities an organisation such as NFCT serves, including the socioeconomic factors affecting those communities

· Awareness of safeguarding best practice and protocols, and how to manage and report concerns appropriately in-line with policy

· A passion for engaging and inspiring young people, with a proven track record of affecting positive outcomes on their development

· Ability to work alone & in teams to proactively plan, take initiative, share good practice and coordinate successful outcomes

· Some experience managing and leading others such as a team of coaches/staff, and confidence to impart knowledge, influence others, and contribute to team development

· Strong organisation and time management skills, including the ability to balance competing priorities and being flexible and adaptable

· Confident presenting to and engaging with audiences, including children & young people

· A proven track record of stakeholder management and relationship-building with partners

· Familiarity with schools and educational settings

· Experience and knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting tools to attain targets, ensure record-keeping and attendance/engagement records, and demonstrate impact

Desirable to succeed in the role:

· Experience in Trauma Informed Practice

· Creating Safe Spaces training

With experience of delivering physical education in primary schools and a passion for and proven track record of developing young people of various backgrounds and abilities with targeted, inclusive, developmental activities, the individual will thrive on helping young people overcome challenges and fulfil their potential. With strong organisation, planning, and evaluation skills, the role-holder is comfortable delivering high-quality interventions aligned to appropriate standards and schemes which affect real change and positive outcomes. The individual also enjoys sharing diverse knowledge and experiences with other delivery staff around them to improve others and contribute to a values-led organisation’s mission.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of NFCT DBS & vetting checks including right-to-work & reference checks

• Completion of all role-specific NFCT mandatory safeguarding checks

• Willingness to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

• Driving license and access to own vehicle is preferred
