We are seeking a dedicated individual to inspire children and young people to build skills and positive attitudes by delivering the Premier League Inspires programme in schools!

Job Title: Premier League Inspires Mentor

Department: Targeted Interventions

Location: Turf Moor, Harry Potts Way, Burnley, BB10 4BX and various schools across Burnley, Pendle and neighbouring areas

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st July 2027

Working Pattern: 35 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

Closing Date: Friday, 13th March 2026

Salary: £23,000 - £23,500 per annum

The Role

To inspire children and young people to develop personal skills and positive attitudes to succeed in life by planning and delivering the Premier League Inspires programme, and events within designated schools.

Roles and Responsibilities

Programme Delivery & Youth Development

  • Inspire and motivate young people to develop personal skills and positive attitudes needed for lifelong success.

  • Deliver the Premier League Inspires programme to support student growth, engagement, and wellbeing.

School-Based Project Delivery

  • Lead PL Inspires sessions and other High School programmes within assigned schools on behalf of Burnley FC in the Community.

  • Adapt delivery style and session structure to meet the unique needs of each educational setting.

Session Planning & Preparation

  • Conduct detailed planning for every session, ensuring all activities are inclusive and considerate of individual needs.

  • Prepare tailored resources and strategies that support varied learning styles and requirements.

High-Quality Session Delivery

  • Deliver engaging, impactful sessions to participants with a wide range of abilities, motivations and needs.

  • Facilitate sessions across multiple formats, including:

1–2–1 mentoring and wellbeing checks

Group interventions

Whole-school assemblies

Educational sessions (Literacy, Numeracy and PSHE)

Evaluation & Standards Improvement

  • Regularly evaluate the quality and impact of your own work to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to departmental reflection processes to enhance programme standards.

Monitoring, Reporting & Impact Measurement

  • Complete all monitoring and evaluation requirements to ensure accurate reporting to funders.

  • Maintain up‑to‑date registers on Salesforce and produce case studies to evidence programme outcomes.

Safeguarding & Stakeholder Wellbeing

  • Ensure all participants, staff and stakeholders are safe and supported before, during, and after each session.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures consistently and respond appropriately to any concerns.

General

  • To understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment.

  • To be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires.

  • To work towards agreed objectives.

  • Comply with all Charity policies.

  • Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner.

  • Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Youth Worker Qualification or similar.

  • Five GCSEs at grade C or above.

  • Safeguarding certificate or the willingness to undertake training.

  • First Aid certificate or the willingness to undertake training.

  • Experience of working with hard-to-reach young people.

  • Experience of working on youth-based projects.

  • Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding young people.

  • Full driving license and the use of a vehicle.
